Fished the Bass Slingers 2 day Summer Slingin' tourney this past weekend. Didn't get to fish Saturday so I started with a big deficit to fill my "virtual livewell" up Sunday morning. Now that I've had my own boat for a month or so I've been fishing the TN river more and more. After a five year hiatus, I've found that my old haunts just don't hold the fish like they used to. So that means I have had to adapt new techniques and fishing styles, sorta teaching the old dog some new tricks so to speak.
I started out fishing some top water on the river bank but never got any keepers. Decided to make a long run and swing for the fences with a species that I've never really caught with consistency over the years. I ended up catching my PB back to back!
1st fish of the day felt like a big largemouth, to my surprise when this 17" Smallmouth, 20" and 2.3 lbs hit my lure instead!

An hour later caught my PB Smallie!
20" Smallmouth, 3.13lb PB

Last fish of the day, had another one at the boat and lost it! 4 bites landed 3!
