Just my opinion.

Another good one from the Hickbilly!
I have known a man or two who would stand on the bank and try to throw his bait out to the middle of the lake, then climb in a boat, drive it out to the middle and then toss as close to the bank as he could get.

I never understood that mindset myself. Still see bank anglers who have all kinds of bass holding cover just a short cast away but they swing for the fences like it's the bottom of the ninth with 3 men on base and two outs.

I liked it and will try it because I always try for the next lake over. Probably why I don't catch.

Dale, I too am a short cast guy. I too started with a short pistol grip rod on local farm ponds. Even today my on deck rods tend to be under 7ft. My go to rods are 6 1/2 and I use them for almost all presentations. Oh sure I can bomb a cast but really don't do it much unless as you mention it may be for a deep crank or a frog otherwise a cast under 40 ft max is my usual distance. If I am within pitching distance then that is usually what I am doing. If I am casting most likely my presentation is a simple roll cast. Good video.
It's funny how much I'm thinking about Mr. Kennedy while I'm making these things.
