After the frustrating day at Englebright on Thursday, Kate and I headed to Camp Far West on Friday to feed our addiction. We had not fished in Rock Creek for a while so decided to start there. The lake is 87 feet down so the creek does not go back very far. Water temp was 75-78 with a nice stain. Wind was calm up to maybe 5 mph. I was rearranging rods and Kate had a fish on before I ever made a cast. The day continued with biting fish. quitting at noon we had about 30 fish total. They came on a 3XD chartreuse "woops"y shad, green pumpkin hula grub and ned rig, keitech swimbaits and drop shots. We caught mostly spotted bass, but I did have two skinny largemouth that would have weighed close to 3 pounds if we caught them in the winter or spring. I never ran the big motor at more than an idle all day! Glad to have a lake with biting fish and enough water to launch a boat so close to home.
Got to love a day on the lake when you can pick the bait you'd like to catch them on and it works ~c~ Thanks for the report

When they are biting is a great time to try new techniques!
