Title: Outboard Trim Pump- Leaking..
Post by: lewis_is_bassin on January 08, 2022, 08:49:06 PM
Hey all. I have a 2005  175 Mercury optimax. The outboard runs great, however, this afternoon I noticed that the trim pump is leaking fluid. I initially though to myself oh easy, just replace the gaskets in the top caps. Little to my surprise, the pump is leaking from the bottom of the unit. I’ve never seen anything like this. Anyone know if there are gaskets at the bottom? If so, are they easy to replace?

Probably just a seal. If you're mechanically inclined and have the tools, you can pick up a rebuild kit take care of it yourself.

Lewis, I'm sure you can google the problem and come up with a couple dozen videos about how to fix it. Good luck!
