Title: Smith Mountain Lake Smallmouths
Post by: FlatsNBay on January 13, 2022, 08:37:25 AM
About every year, I fish Smith Mountain Lake with my brother-in-law. He inherited a small lakehouse on the lake. He is ate up with striper fishing but when I come and visit, I want to target smallmouth, being that I'm from Florida. We catch quite a few small ones (about a pound) but never a decent smallmouth. What gives? Are there a good number of larger smallmouth in Smith Mountain Lake?

Thanks Coldfront. That was interesting. Anybody have any tips or tricks for catching a bigger small mouth? We usually drop shot around the rocks for them towards the damn.
