Title: chickamauga good'n slips away at last minute..
Post by: coldfront on March 20, 2022, 07:12:15 PM
okay... got her to the side of the boat.  through 5 head-shaking jumps... and countless bulldogging runs... got the full measure of her.  saw her in all her glory.  she was NOT a double digit fish.  probably NOT a seven...  but she was too big to boat flip... so I screwed around too long, lost line discipline... and she shook the hook at the last minute.

I'm fishing for fun.  Letting nature's vitamin D factory do it's thing... breathing in the fresh, cool spring air...  If I get them to the side of the boat, the 'long distance release' counts.  Sure it won't help me when I go before Capn 'Judge Dredd' Lou... but for now?  what a great day to be out on the lake!

she looked like this (only about 4-5 times bigger)...

I don't believe it. No picture, no story (I had a guy tell me that once). I need to get to Chic so I  myself can lose one like that.

I know a guy who has an open invitation extended.  might not let you take the vexus unattended... but do have a fully functioning Ranger RT in the garage next to it...

We should have a Chickamauga UB rally.  Find a place that would hold 8 or 10 guys and anyone wanting to come could.

could be fun... but anytime you'd want to be here it's thick with tournaments.  literally 'ticks on a hound' thick...  the legend, the lore that is the Chick?  truth is can be hit/miss... and the nonstop pressure on this lake is phenomenal.  been out on vacation this past week and fishing has not been easy.  sure it's spawn...  nor have large specimens come to hand...
grass gets up and good about August... but the frog bite doesn't really 'fire' until maybe October.  not like folks 'want' in a frog bite anyway.

I'd think a rally on a spotted bass lake in the fall when they're schooling would be max fun/enjoyment for a lot of folks...

I've always wanted to fish that fishery.  I've driven across it many times while traveling to and from Georgia > Kentucky.  I just never had time to stop and make it happen.
