Since their invention I've always had a portable air compressor for my vehicles (cheapest insurance a man can buy and save thousands).
Anyway, I've not ever found one I liked "completely". Either they draw too many amps after getting old, or don't draw enough and take forever to pump up a tire. Then there is the issue of cord and hose distance allowing the compressor to pump up a rear tire on a four door truck (most have this issue fixed).
Mothers, "slime" compressor gave it up finally (I was surprised how long it lasted for being a cheap Walmart purchase so long ago). It was never enough to really pump up the tires on the boat much less the truck. After the Slime unit going T.U. I gave her mine because it would take 15 minutes and two fuses to get from 40 to 55 where I like to run my truck tires and forget the boat tires to 60.
What portable compressors do you all like to use. Keep in mind I'm running 285 75r17 on the truck and I don't remember the number on the boat but it's much larger than the low profile car tires most of the pumps are made for....
I don't want to spend 3 bills or have to mount it to the bed of my truck but a buck and half is very durable for a durable unit.
I have one of those "Slime" units, best cheap pump I've had, handled the tires on my Colorado fine and the boat trailer with an long extension cord made up after I bought it.

Check out the Ryobi, it looks similar to handheld drill/driver. We bought one for my stepson several years ago to take on the ATV trails. He's abused the hell out of it and it still works. It's crazy how much air volume and pressure it puts out. I've seen similar brands that have both the rechargeable battery and cigarette lighter adapter.
I have the Milwaukee M12 and it's fine for topping off tires at home. I've used my buddy's Milwaukee M18 and it's faster and just a more powerful compressor. I was impressed by the M18.

Have you looked at the portable jump box air compressor combos? I don't have one, but am thinking of getting one. Saw a fellow use one to also power the electric winch on a car trailer. He moves cars around for a living. He said he uses it a lot and loves that it will also pump up his trailer tires, or jump start a car he is carrying.
I haven't. I already have a couple jump boxes (great for the boat too). But something to look into.
