Title: Nolan Lake 21 Aug 22
Post by: Donald Garner on August 21, 2022, 04:11:19 PM
Good afternoon to everyone,

I stopped by Nolan Lake this afternoon to take a few pictures.  With all this hot weather we've been having these past few months it's had it affects on the lake.  The lake looks to be about 4ft low.  Below are a few pictures from the Dam Area; North Bank Line; Island and South Bank Cove Area.

Dam Area The water at Summer Pool is usually 1/4 way those Big Chuck Rocks on the dam there.  That concrete structure is the Over Flow structure.  The creek channel is just to the right of the Over Flow Structure as you're looking a the picture.

North Bank Area At Summer Pool those near branches in the picture are 1/2 under water.

Island and South Bank Cove The cove is completely dried up now.  You wouldn't be able to fish that South side of the grass island now.  That water depth is more that likely just inches deep.  The main creek channel is 20ft in front of the grass island as you're looking at the picture.

South Bank Line That tree you see just out from that point is usually under the water.  Most of the time during Summer Pool there will only be a couple inches of it sticking up out of the water.  The cove to the (Right) as you're looking at the picture has (5) submerged trees in it.  They're all now just inches in the water.

With the weird weather we have here in Central Texas.  A good hard couple days rain the lake would be back at Summer Pool.

If you get some good weed/grass growth while the lake is low once it comes back up the bass fry will have Lots of hiding spots!!

I know y'all need rain but maybe it will work out in the long term.

Good pics!

Tks. For sure and it's been like this before and worst during the last Texas Drought a few years ago  :(  The grass and weeds came up and the lake looked beautiful.
