Title: Bistineau 20 Aug 2022
Post by: Mike Cork on August 22, 2022, 02:11:47 PM
Fished the UB Singles tournament on Bistineau Saturday. Lots of folks fishing and I do believe everyone came to the scales with a limit. Winning stringer was 21 plus with a nearly 9 pound kicker. Second and third were not far behind. Most of us had 13 to 15 pounds.

I hadn't prefished so I put the trolling motor down about the state park and fished south and didn't pick it up until I hit Mud Slough where I idled to the main channel and wen't about half way back up lake to fish until time ran out. I caught a ton of fish in the 2-3 pound range, more two's than three's...

I caught them on everything from a frog and crankbait to a MT Flippin Out and HawgRaiser. Most of my fish were in extremely shallow water. The lake is about two feet from being completely low and the bass seem to be trying to stay in that last little bit of water they can before they are forced into the big creek.

The lake is pretty dangerous at this level. Areas that are normally easy to determine where to drive because you can see the stumps are dangerous because you can't quite see the stumps and they are at meat eating level. If you go out be careful and bring plenty of baits, the bass are chomping.

Sounds like a Great day catching Mike!!

With all the rain dropping currently it might come up a good bit even with the gates open.

It could, the gates are full of debris right now so it's a slow drain. Not sure exactly how much rain we got but one weatherman said it was a whole summers worth in two days.

Yeah I've heard from 6-10" around there. Some parts of east Texas had 9" in 1 day.
