Title: Clearlake is brutal. Sept 2022
Post by: Hobious on September 20, 2022, 12:50:13 PM
i finally skunked at Clearlake.  water is low.  bait fish numbered in the billions.  they would dive out of the water at the splash of my bait, or swim before me as i glide along in a kayak.  billions.

super hot weather.  i fished the Saturday of Labor Day weekend.   i dont know what was going on, because i only saw 3 bass boats.  i know they can still launch their boats at a few ramps.

bummer part.  my buddy was texting me from the Delta.  he didnt skunk. hahaha..

welcome aboard.  got to fish clear lake once.  not as easy a lake as the pros make it look.

first experience with roboworms on darter heads, drop shops...  and topwater on braid.

lots of fun with my guide...

really diverse and beautiful lake!

You are not alone this year.  BASS best lakes in America missed the mark on both Clear Lake and the Delta.  They still produce a few big bags, but the guys doing it are on them all the time.  I usually fish Clear Lake several times each Fall, but I doubt I will this year.

I think a lot of it this year Pat was the HEAT! Def kept the lakes Low...

Side note- have you fished the bass trails here? Or the BASS Nation stuff? I'm tempted to fish the western bass trail socal team division as those lakes are 3 hours or less away from me.
