Howdy from Belton, Texas ;)
:toot: Welcome to November ~shade I hope this month brings lots of happiness and good health to our UltimateBass Members and their families. I still have everyone in my daily prayers.
It was a pretty nice day across Central Texas today. Our forecasted temps were 56-65dgrs with 79% humidity and a SE wind @ 9mphs. We got some thunderstorms moving into our area starting Thursday night and into the weekend. Hopefully there won't be any tornados or damaging hail storms during this round. Last week there was some major tree damage > None to our property < The only damage I had was my boat covers got trashed :(
Took the afternoon off to attend my medical appointment. The doctor is pleased there's no weight gain; the BP is in a safe range also. There's still some swelling occurring during prolong sitting and standing in the lower legs. I'm having some side effects with the BP meds. I'm having blisters form on my lower legs. This started when he changed my meds. So hopefully he can figure out how to stop the blisters from forming.
Nothing exciting happening at the Fun Farm and that is ok with me. After my doctor's appointment I made a trip to Academy and picked up new boat covers for the G3 and Stratos. Debating on whether to get the covers on prior to this storm or wait till afterwards :-\
To everyone I hope your day was a pleasant one and the evening a relaxing one. Ya'll be safe in your travels and tight lines if you're able to get out on the water.
Hi Don, I know I say it every time I post to this thread, but it's crazy how fast the months are passing. It's good to hear you're getting things under control in the health department. Do a little research on celery seed extract. Celery seed has lot's of health benefits including lowering blood pressure. I've been using it for a little over a year, withing weeks my BP improved so much I was able to drop one of my prescription meds. It also eliminated gout issues.
If it's a trailerable cover, I'd be interested in hearing how you like the cover you got for your Stratos. Since my original Stratos cover fell apart and I gave it to Bigwrench, I've bought two replacement trailerable covers and haven't been happy with either of them. They look and fit more like a giant tarp. I expected a lot more for nearly $300. I keep the Stratos in the garage, but I still like having a cover for towing in foul weather.
Had some sun today with temps reaching just shy of 80. Although cloudy this morning it cleared about 11AM and has been nice the balance of the day. Thursday promises to be a beautiful day as well.
Wife and I went to the movies today to see Black Adam. I must say the movie was awful. I guess young folks might like it but it certainly wasn't for me. Lots of violence, special effects but overall not much of a story line. It was just a comic book on film would be the best way to describe it.
Still playing with the new Ventura upgrade on my Mac. Everything is working but does have a few performance glitches to be expected on newly released product. The glitches are not major and can all be easily overcome. I usually don't upgrade to a new platform until it has been out a while but I did this time. I am still exploring its capability. I did learn that I can use the I Pad as a second monitor which is kinda cool if you need that sort of thing. It also enables webcam style operation via the I phone. Also cool but only if you need it I guess. Lots of wiz bangs to go along with improved security so I guess it w as worth the effort to upgrade.
Good evening to everyone,
Forecasted temps across Central Texas today were 66-74dgrs with 66% humidity and a SE wind @ 10mphs. We still got rain in the forecast for tomorrow and Friday. The weekend is looking bright and sunny.
Slow day at the Fun Farm which is ok with me. I got a follow up call from my primary care doctor this morning. She wants me to come in and let her check out these blisters. So I'm taking the day off tomorrow and will spent the day attending medical appointments. I'm sure she's going to send me over to the hospital to one of the clinics there. It's going to be a long interesting day for sure.
Jim; Glad to see you stopping in, hope the family is doing well. Yes sir this year is moving right along. Every month I think the same thing>>Time is flying by. I'll get on line and do some research on that celery seed. These darn side affects didn't occur till he added a second BP med to my list.
These covers I get from Academy are trailable covers and they're not all that durable really for traveling. I use them to cover the boat while it's parked in the storage area. Down the road here I'm going to have a double carport cover installed over the boats. I'll still use the covers to keep the critters and such out. When I travel I've always took the covers off. Once I got to where I was going I'd put them back on.
We have a garage also but you know who's vehicle gets kept in there ~shade lo
Bud; Sounds like you had a relaxing day today. Good for you, glad to hear that. I saw the previews to that movie and I didn't think much of it either. We try and go to the movies a couple times a month if we can find something worth watching. You have fun getting the computer figured out. I have a laptop hooked up to an external monitor. I really like having dual screens. I got hooked on this setup while working in Iraq. My laptop is an HP 19in screen and the external monitor is a Sanyo 24inch screen.
I have a dual screen set up at work also. Having dual screens sure helps out a lot especially when making spread sheets or doing a lot of research.
Dwayne told me yesterday there's snow on the ground up in Anchorage and up on the North Slope. I love these Texas Winters ~shade
Rodney, Dog, Top, and the rest of the gang hope all's well at the home fronts.
To everyone have a Bless Day tomorrow. Be safe in your travels if you're out and traveling.
Howdy all good to see everyone is doing good.
I like Dowco covers have had fantastic results with them they do get pricy.
The custom fitted one for my boat was 1000 bucks but its sweet. fits snug trailers good. Look into them.
Don, I hope you can mix in some enjoyable moments with your medical appts and can get out to enjoy the nice weather this weekend. I am going to look at a solution for boat coverage myself soon with rain 2 seasons and heavy snow for 2 season. Im currently considering building a frame to place inside and tarp in the warmer months and maybe shrink wrap in the cold months.
We have been focused on the PCS to Fort Drum. Gathering warm stuff for the kids from some trips to bass pro near Sacramento (almost adults lol), throwing unwanted items in piles up and downstairs for a dump run I will make this weekend. Feeling a bit down today about leaving my battle buddies at work. ROTC has been an extremely rewarding assignment and the CPTs and Civilians Ive worked with the last few years have been like family.

Good afternoon to all,
We're looking at overcasts skies with a rain front moving into our area later on today. Forecasted temps are 71-83dgrs with 75% humidity and a S wind @ 17mphs. The rain and thunderstorms are on the way.
My walk in medical appointment went well this morning. I was seen right off the bat. I picked up some additional bandages and wraps from the clinic. I'm now waiting on the phone call from the Open Wound Clinic. My primary care doctor took me off one of the BP meds for time being. Hopefully that will cease these blisters from forming up.
I'm going to hold off putting the covers back on the boats till after this round of storms. I'd be really pissed to have them trashed again by another hail storm.
Dark 3; No fishing this weekend. The lakes are still pretty low right now. It dangerous to be out running around unless you know where your running. There's lots of unsubmerged trees and boulders out there just waiting for a hull to run over them. Nolan Lake over on Ft. Hood is so low there's no place to launch the G3 from.
Yes sir you moving back up North you'll need some solid structure to protect your boat. I've never been up to Ft. Drum and really had no desire to either. Although those 9yrs in Alaska was trying enough. I had my fishing boat triple wrapped and had the trailer jacked up off the ground during the Winter months.
I remember those PCS days and yep there were lots of good friends left behind etc. Ya'll be safe in your travels to your new home.
Dog; Brother, Tks for dropping in sure hope all's well with your health improving. I've checked out some custom made covers for my Stratos a couple times. I just couldn't pull the trigger on getting one. Something always seem to come up when I was getting ready.
To everyone have a really pleasant afternoon and evening ahead.
Today was not quite a nothing box day but it was darn close. Great weather today with a high near 80 and a lite breeze and blue bird skies. I did trim one of my trees today just to do some shaping for next year growth. I still have not pruned the Japanese Maple until a few more leaves fall. Then I will do a bit of shaping on it as well. Both trees are doing well and are very healthy.
Other than a quick trip down the street for a few grocery items I have been home all day just taking it easy. The wife seems to be doing a bit better today but she is still going through some depression that seems to effect her from time to time. Not much I can do to help her. If I try to talk to her to help she does not want to hear it. If I say the wrong thing than it would not be good for her or myself. So, I am just leaving her alone for now hoping she will work through it. Her back pain and arthritis pain is bad and would make anyone depressed.
Don, I'd love to have one of your Texas Winters! ~sun It sounds like those covers are about the same as what I've found. I suppose once I have the Stratos re-carpeted I'll break down and buy a custom cover.
Guys, you get what you pay for in those custom covers. I have owned three different Ranger travel covers in my 40 years of bass boat ownership. I realize these things are $1K+ but I can attest that they get the job done. My boat is stored outside and have to endure all of the harsh weather elements of our area. The have withstood hurricanes without the boat interior getting wet even one time. They have not ripped in the wind or been damaged by some of the hail storms. The last cover I bought about 5 years ago, I was able to get some custom features like longer tie down straps since I have a non standard trailer. The motor cover is designed to fit perfectly over my fast strike motor and my Minn Kota trolling motor. The boat is dual console and the cover is designed accordingly with extra interior felt to protect gel coat and windshields in all the right places. These covers do have a life span due to UV damage in the Carolina sun but I have been using Aqua Armor treatment each spring and fall just to keep the cover clean and protected and pliable. All I can say is the custom cover is worth it in the long run and would recommend it to anyone as a towing cover.
I had another day of doing nothing except enjoying a beautiful day and relaxing. We only left the property one time to go to the post office and that was it. Just finished a simple supper of chicken tenders and nothing else planned on this Friday evening. We were up later than normal last night watching the World Series and switching back and forth to the Coastal Carolina Football game against conference rival App State. Coastal won again and are currently 7-1 so far this season.
Bud, For me with the weight of snow in the winter I feel like Im going to have to do something custom unless I get it inside somewhere for the winter. In the summer, the rain doesn't pool up on the cover or do you have something in the boat holding it up?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Bud, you are 100% correct. the original Stratos cover was awesome both in fit and performance.
Dark, I have a few posts somewhere in the Tips board and maybe here in Dock Talk too, about just that. When I stored my Stratos outdoors I used PVC pipe to create domelike supports under the cover. Snow seldom built up on it, rain rolled right off. It came out easily and traveled in the bed of the truck. It was also cheap.
https://www.ultimatebass.com/bass-fishing-forum/index.php?topic=137391.0 (https://www.ultimatebass.com/bass-fishing-forum/index.php?topic=137391.0) Unfortunately the pics are no longer linked. I'll look to see if I can find any.
Dark3. My custom cover fits so tightly that there are no pools forming. It all runs off. From time to time if I don't get the cover nice and tight it will pool a very small amount but nothing much more than 8-12 oz of water or so. I usually just touch the cover and the pool drains. I don't do snow here but when I lived in New England and Illinois we had plenty of snow and it was never a problem but I took steps to clean the cover after a big snow especially if ice was involved. I think the cover treatment keeps the cover fairly slick and a lot of the stuff would just slide off with a little solar warming during the day.
Greetings from Belton, Texas ~shade
Forecasted temps for today were 45-74dgrs with 63% humidity and a W wind @ 13mphs. The front is moving across our area and heading East. We have rain and thunder with this movement. Tomorrow we're forecast to have bright sunny skies.
Somewhat busy day today at the fun farm. I spent most of the day on the computer updating files etc. Got a call from the Director she informed me my team is tasked to move all the furniture out of the library. The powers to be have decided to re-carpet the
the library during Thanksgiving Break. I sent the principal and other powers to be that they need to contact the vendors that put the furniture in the library. There's (3) tables in there that are 14 - 16ft long X 4ft wide. I remember watching the guys haul those long boxes into the library and a team of them put those tables together. We'll see what happens. They want me to start moving the furniture on the 17th of Nov.
Bud; I hope your wife gets to feeling better soon. I still have y'all in my daily prayers. Yes sir you get what you pay for. I've looked at Custom Covers before and there are a lot of benefits to having them. A custom cover is on my "Wish List" as is a few other things I'd like to have for my boats.
Jim; For now I'm just going to keep Academy in business with buying their covers. Once I get that double over head car port cover built a lot of boat cover damage will cease ;)
Dark 3; When are the movers arriving?
To everyone I hope your weekend ahead is a pleasant one. Y'all enjoy that family time together as much as possible.
Don, the 17th is the packers. The 21st is the movers. The 26th I pull off on the cross country drive. They are actually 2 different companies. All of this is foreign to me as Ive never done a government move before Ive always done DITY moves myself. I wasn't feeling it this time haha. Funny they pack everything. Like take your underwear out of your drawer, document it and put in a box lol.

Good morning to all,
We're starting the day off with Blue Bird Skies across Central Texas ~sun Forecasted temps are 67-84dgrs with 99% humidity and a SE wind @ 5mphs. We're forecasted for more rain for the upcoming week ahead.
We're off to church here shortly. Lunch location hasn't been determined yet. I'm going to spend the afternoon draining the water out of the G3 again. We had some heavy rains move across the area Thursday night and most of Friday morning. With the sunny days forecasted for the next couple days the boats should dry out again. I got to get those covers back on the boats here before the next rain moves in.
Belton Lake is now almost 14ft below Summer Pool. Stillhouse Lake is about 12ft below Summer Pool. They keep pulling the water for the communities down South of us. The last time I drove by Nolan Lake on Ft. Hood the South Coves were just about dried up.
Dark 3; I remember those days. They can be stressful. You got to watch them closely when they show up. They send people into each room and start packing. Make sure your wife has all her jewelry packed by herself and she takes it with her. You should do the same thing with any firearms you have. I remember one time they even packed up the kitchen trash. Good luck with the move.
To everyone hope the weekend so far has been a pleasant one. Be safe in your travels if you have to get out.
Howdy!!! 61 and sunny right now, nice fall day. I'm a bit po'd at the Doctor taking care of my gut problem, I called him after 2 weeks from when he called me to tell me he failed a covid test, he was in surgery, I asked when they were going to reschedule my colonoscopy, they scheduled it for January 23rd, I wonder if they would have called me if I didn't call call them. I still haven't anything about the ct scan. I see my primary care Doc Friday I'll talk about it with him.
Besides being back on the schedule for my shoulder replacement, the Doctor who is supposed to be taking care of my abdominal problem will have work around that now, I have an appointment with the pain management Doc Thursday so that's finally back in play, good thing my back is killing me. At least there is movement on the pain front and my wife will be able to take family leave and do her baking while she is taking care of me. Things are looking up.
D3, are you going back to Drum?
Donald, good luck with those tables, sometimes the powers that be don't understand what's going on with a job.
Rodney
A very nice day today again with temps in the lower 80s and plenty of sun with a blue bird sky. Unfortunately that all ends tomorrow. Temps will only be in the 60s for the next few days followed by a tropical event here beginning on Wednesday and the main event on Saturday. This is the same storm now taking aim on the east coast of Florida. Like Florida we will be having significant rain but the storm will be fairly fast moving by the time it gets here. The Ranger will stay in storage for the rest of the week and probably come out to play next week.
Tomorrow is election day so I will probably watch some returns tomorrow night. We voted a week or so ago so I won't have to face those lines at the polls tomorrow. I actually like voting on election day but the Mrs. has some significant mobility problems so the early voting process was better for her.
Rodney, good to see you on line today but I am truly sorry for all your pain issues. Just what did you do in your life that has your body so messed up. All of us old guys have some pains but you surely have hit the mother lode of pain over the years. If you keep getting all these surgeries we are gonna have to change your screen name to Robo Rodney.
Simple supper tonight. Having some lasagna with some garlic bread. I am hungry already because my body clock has not adjusted as yet. I usually eat about 6pm but here it is 5pm and I have been looking for something to snack on since 4pm. So far I have had some Ritz crackers and a small piece of spice cake to hold me over until supper.
The Overhead Door technician was here to day to install a new bottom door gasket on my 16ft garage door. He had already changed out the photo cells a few weeks ago and serviced the door but the bottom door gasket assembly was on backorder. The job is now done and everything works as it should and above all SHE WHO SHALL BE OBEYED is now happy.
Greetings to all,
Central Texas was covered by rain showers most of the day. Our forecasted temps were 64-75dgrs with 89% humidity and a NE wind @ 6mphs. It rain most of the day some places got a heavy down pour other not so much so.
I spent the morning at the Open Wound Clinic getting my lower legs cleaned and wrapped. My primary care doctor told me to stop taking one of the additional BP meds. The draining has slowed down somewhat but continues. To help get the swelling reduced they wrapped both my legs from the top of the foot to the knee. I have a follow up appointment next Monday. If this method doesn't reduce the swelling etc. there are other methods to be imploded. I have to keep these wrapping on till they take them off. I'm trying to figure out how I'm suppose to take a shower now :-\ they gave me some Cass wrapping I guess I get it figured out.
Bud; sounds like somewhat of a laid back day there. We voted early also. Walked in showed them our voter ID cards and driver's license. We were directed over to the voting machine and did it. It took all of maybe 10minutes if that. I hope that new nasty weather doesn't produce any bad weather for ya. Hope the wife gets to feeling better also. We had tacos tonight for supper quick and easy like.
Rodney; My good man. I've had ya in my daily prayers. I figured 'The Pain Gang' had you hostage. Sure hope things work out for ya here soon with your medical issues.
This library carpeting deal is going to get ugly here real quick.
To everyone I hope tomorrow is a better day for y'all. Be safe and take care when you're out and about.
Good morning!!! 40 headed to mid/upper 40s, partly cloudy, more seasonal temps but tomorrow it heads back into the 60s near 70. I'm certainly happy to be heading to the fixes for the worst of what I need done. ;D My wife had a procedure Saturday, she's fine now, I had to go to Mass to pick up the Eucharist for her, I hurt big time, weather change, but I'm glad to make it for a change. I went out to pick up bags of leaves for the raised beds we have, I got 12 and I'm thinking of getting 4 more. I put the bag on my mower and spread them on the ground and chop them into the bag then spread them over the raised beds, makes a big difference in production of the crops. We compost the leftover veggies from dinner and spread them also, I don't believe in buy fertilizer when I can get for free.
Bud, all I can say is that it must have been a misspent youth(pronounced yout, remember "My cousin Vinny". Both my parents had osteoarthritis, I got a double dose. Good to hear you guys are doing well, I hope the Mrs, will be doing better soon. I agree with you about buying boat covers, spend it up front or spend it over the years.
Donald, I don't think you're going to miss the job after retirement. This carpet job sounds like a boondoggle, it's the way government works unfortunately. How much longer are you going to have do the procedure to eliminate the problem? I figure by the end of January or February we'll get a new to us vehicle, if prices drop on used then it'll be sooner, then I'll start looking for a boat.
Have a great day, be well!!! Don't forget, vote early vote often.
Rodney
Rodney, I am heading back to drum. I chose to go back and suffer in the cold haha. I will join you in the back pain. I got a referral on short notice to get some injections. Hopefully that helps before the 6 day drive.

Good evening to everyone,
Forecasted temps for across Central Texas today were 64-74dgrs with 83% humidity and a S wind @ 2mphs.
Interesting day at work. We had a 2inch water main line that came apart and flooded the football field. It sure was a mess out there. The plumbers were pretty busy out there all day today getting things repaired. My day shift outside guy had appointments with this kids today. So I spent the day out riding on the Gator collecting up the trash etc.
I got (2) new team members yesterday and today. I'm down to only being (4) short now. I got the Night Shift doing team cleaning beings they're still short 3 personnel. They are learning to work together ;) Talked to the librarian and the digital learning center tech reference moving the furniture around next week. Thursday is day # 1 of moving the library stuff out.
I got my last Acupuncture Treatment appointment tomorrow. I'm sure going to miss those sessions. The doctor in charge got called back onto Active Duty. Next Monday I have a follow up appointment with my kidney doctor. I also have a follow up with the Open Wound Clinic. I'll be glad when these bandages come off. My legs are itching like crazy and there's no way to relive the itch with all those wrappings on there. Hopefully the kidney doctor will have some good news on whets lying in the near future.
Dark 3; I remember while I was stationed in Alaska I'd check the weather at Drum. There were days it was actually colder and they had more snow than we did in Alaska. Good luck with the Winters there.
Rodney; Glad to see you out and about my good man. Hope you get to feeling better real soon. Sir you are RIGHT; I'm not going to miss anything about this job ~shade That's good news I hope you're able to get into that new vehicle to you sooner. Boat shopping will be fun especially when you're snowed in. The wife and I already voted. They had early voting here and we took advantage of it.
Alrighty y'all have a pleasant evening and a better day tomorrow.

I surely do hope they work for you. They worked pretty well for me, at least until the stenosis and bulged disc took over, that surgery worked very well. Right now if I do the dishes with in 5 minutes I'm wishing I didn't, 10 minutes of walking is about it, the injections should take care of that.
Good morning!!! 28 headed to 61, partly cloudy. Not much going on, we're having a bit of painting done today and tomorrow, I can sit in my recliner(bed) watching tv and supervising. lo
I went and voted, didn't make a bit of difference, I wish we could afford to move, my wife has relatives in Alabama and Mississippi, maybe we could move in with Lou or PM, who knows. lo
Donald, sure seems like for a new building it sure is falling apart early, at least out on the gator they have to find you if they want you, if I saw anybody coming out a door I'd have that gator doing an about face and seeing how fast it really is capable of going, if they can't catch you they can't bother you. lo
Have a great day, be well!!!

Good evening to all,
Forecasted temps across Central Texas were 65-72dgrs with 78%humidity and a SE wind @6mphs. We got a cold front moving in Thursday Night. The lows for the next few days are going to be in the low 30's mid 40's.
Slack day at work today. I had medical appointments during the morning. Lab work, Sleep Apnea follow up on the adjustments they made on my CPAP Machine. My last Acupuncture Treatment appointment and a walk in appointment at the Open Wound Clinic. My legs were itching really bad last night. I almost took the scissors and cut the bandages off....but I didn't. The nurse cut them off and cleaned up the area and redid both legs. My wife stopped by Walmart and picked up some Benadryl for me to take. Hopefully that will take care of the itching.
The school honored all the Veterans we have working there. We had a parade through the hallways with the Drum Corps leading us through. Everyone was in the hallways yelling and cheering us etc. it was pretty cool. The photo journal department put together a Veteran's Day Video for us also.
Rodney; The Supervisor from the Recliner...That's what I'm talking about ;) Everyday I find something wrong with the way this bldg. was constructed. It really pisses me off knowing what we paid for and to have stuff happen. The plumbers were back out there double checking their work this afternoon. Soccer season starts soon and they'll be using the football stadium etc.
Driving around the 100 acres on the Gator I still can't hide. They sent the Security detail out once looking for me. They all drive around on golf carts and carry radios. I can out run them in the vehicle but not the radio :(
To everyone I hope tomorrow is a better day for you all. Be safe in your travels also.
Windy and rainy today but fairly warm with temps hitting 70. Friday will be more of the same as the remnants of Nichole passes through South Carolina. Some coastal flooding expected at high tide tomorrow with continued beach erosion likely. Then the weather will be turning cooler with lows heading down to the upper 30s a day or two after the tropical storm.
Don, I over see the color guard. We do alot of salute to heroes stuff this time off year. In the last 2 weeks we have done a Uc Davis Aggies game and a Sac Kings game.

Good evening from Belton, Texas ;)
Forecasted temps across Central Texas today were 61-73 dgrs with 81% humidity and an E wind @ 6mphs. There's a chance of some rain later on tonight and tomorrow. There's a Cold Front moving in tonight also. The weekend ahead looks like chilly but sunny skies.
Ground Hog day at the Fun Farm. Nothing exciting happening here a the home front. We had a simple meal of left overs > Taco Soup < Tomorrow we're working 6am - 2:30pm. I'm dividing everyone into teams and we're starting at one end of the bldg. and working our way to the other end. Lots of desks to wipe down, floors to sweep and mop etc. I have a Leads meeting tomorrow with the Director also.
Bud; Glad to hear there wasn't any really nasty weather moving through your area. On the weather map it sure looks nasty. Is the wife feeling any better yet? I still have y'all in my daily prayers.
Dark 3; Tks for sharing that information. We have High School Marine Corp ROTC programs here at all (3) High Schools. They always do a great job at the football games and other community held events. I like watching the Color Guard as they preform their tasks.
To everyone have a relaxing and pleasant evening. Be safe in your travels also.
Good morning!!! 55 headed to low 60s, cloudy rain should be here in the afternoon should get about 2 inches or so. Saw the Pain Management Doc yesterday, I get my injections December 5th, injections on the 5th, new shoulder on the 15th, it's getting better in my opinion.
Bud, can't knock dry weather, cooling I don't mind, I like the change of seasons, I'm not fond of wet weather or wet weather with changing fronts, tough on the arthritis.
D3, are you going to be doing the color guard thing in between bouts of trying to stay warm?
Donald, another short weekend, sounds like they'll pad your wallet before you're retired, more tackle!!! How are legs doing? We have you in our prayers.
Have a great day and weekend, be well!!!
Good Morning Everyone 44 degrees here and supposed to be a rainy day.
Thank you to all the Veteran who have served.
My headache Dr put me on new meds as my headaches have gotten worse and I haven't been able to read the computer screen. Have a appointment today with my cardiologist who still hasn't figured out why my legs are swollen. Right side of my heart is enlarged.
Old Fart, I hope the injections work.
Donald, I hope the Benadryl worked and your legs were less itchy. Hopefully today is better at the fun farm.
Bud I hope you don't get hit to hard by the storm.
I hope everyone has a great day and tight lines to those on the water. Continued prayers for everyone.
Hey everyone.
Happy Armistice Day/Veteran's Day.
Been busy as Hades lately. First all the work flooding in from after Ian hit S FL, and now the calls have been flooded for work from Nicole hitting the coast. A LOT of seawall and foundation evaluations, inspections and repair. Now for the hard part, getting the crews to actually work. Having a BIG issue in getting the guys to do what they need to do, get out the door on time.
Hope all is well with everyone. I stop by and read all the great threads & conversations, but just not a lot of time to reply to them all. Sorry.

The storm has left our area. It did not amount to much at all. A few light showers and some gusty winds between 20 and 30 mph. Most of the storm tracked inland and dropped a lot of rain and higher winds than here on the coast. Tomorrow will be a nice day but will usher in some much cooler weather tomorrow evening. It was 80 degrees today so all in all it was a pleasant day except for a few passing showers.
Good evening to all,
What a day weather wise here in Central Texas ~shade At 10am this morning it was raining and hailing so hard I couldn't even see the front of the truck. The skies were dark and black like it was 10pm. The wind was out of control. It rain fricking hard for a couple hours here. The forecasted temps were 35-66dgrs with 78% humidity and a NE wind @ 16mphs. The temp has been dropping all afternoon. It's 36dgrs here right now.
We had to work today which we always do on Veterans Day. We got a lot done but my team sure made it hard on themselves ~b~ Oh well they should've paid attention and asked questions this morning when I briefed the plan to them ~shade The place does look a lot better than it has in a good while. I'm now short 4 personnel and I have no idea when replacements will be arriving :-\
Bud; Glad to hear the storm moved on and no damaged was done.
Top; Tks brother and the same to ya. I have the same issue with my workers also. When they show up some of them just go through the motion and collect that pay check.
bassmedic 46; Brother thanks and I hope you get to feeling better soon. The Benadryl has been working pretty good. I have a follow up appointment on Monday at the Open Wound Clinic and with my Kidney Doctor. Hopefully they'll both have some good news for me. I still have ya in my daily prayers buddy.
Rodney; Yep I like these short weeks. Tomorrow will be a quick in and out at work. Just going in to do the time sheets. The legs are still draining etc. Monday I have an appointment at the Open Wound Clinic and with my Kidney doctor. I had some lab work done Wednesday and they gave me a piss jug to fill up on Sunday. The kidney doc wants a bigger sample ~shade With this BP meds I'm taking etc. taking a piss isn't hard to do lo Tks for the prayers my good man. They sure do help.
Alrighty guys y'all have a relaxing evening and really pleasant day tomorrow.
Good morning from Belton, Texas 8)
The storms have all cleared from Central Texas. We're starting the day off with Bright Blue Bird Skies ~sun ~sun Forecasted temps for today are 29 - 55dgrs with 55% humidity and a N wind @ 15mphs. Its a little chilly across our area this morning.
Stopped in the office to knock out our weekly time sheets. Made a pit stop and picked up a biscuit, egg, bacon, cheese sandwich and a diet Mountain Dew for breakfast. Made a couple updates to the work calendar and back home now. We're heading over to Crusader Stadium to watch a football game this afternoon. Today is the final game of the season. Playoff games start next weekend.
With all the rain we had last week the G3 is full of water again. So I'll spent some time after the game draining the boat. The upcoming forecast shows plenty of sun so the covers will be put on both boats soon.
To everyone have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend with the family. Be safe in your travels if you're out and about.
Tomorrow's forecast puts us at a high of 36° tomorrow and low of 23°. That's brutal since we've been in between the 70s and 50s seems like forever. Difference is Texas doesn't stay that way. I'd love to have your weather, Don.
I'd be freaking out if the Stratos got that full. Do you leave the plug in intentionally?
Good Afternoon Everyone, Hit 70 today and tomorrow will be 48. It did clear up earlier in the afternoon.
Donald, Hope the football games were good and it didn't take long to drain the G3.
Hope everyone had a good day and has a good night.
Actually pretty cool here in Norcal. Been patching nail holes and packing. Thursday the movers come to pack everything then a few days later the truck comes. The interior of the house in NY is painted and the flooring guy is starting to do his thing. Its alot of $$ but its definitely an investment in the house, freshening it up and raising its value. I made a call to staff duty to talk to the Ops SGM to feel out the unit or where I might end up. It seems likely I will be a cannon battery 1SG but nothing is for sure yet.
Rodney, I wont be running the color guard anymore at the new job. I hope the injections help. I have some on Wednesday for the first time in years.
Don, have you ever put the cover on when you get home with it or only in the winter?

Good morning to all
Woke up with 28dgrs with Blue Bird Skies outside :surrender: I got up and turned the furnace on it was 56dgrs inside of the house. We're now at 38dgrs outside and its comfortable inside of the house now ~shade
Our forecasted temps for Central Texas today were 28-56dgrs with 57% humidity and an E wind @ 7mphs.
The wife went to church this morning I'm stuck at home conducting a 24hr urinalyses collection :surrender: I have a follow up appointment with my kidney doctor in the morning. There is nothing planned for today except relaxing and watching tv.
Dark3; Have fun patching holes etc. I remember having to do that while living in quarters. We always paid the housing office to hire a cleaning team. Good luck with your new assignment hope you get selected to be the Battery 1SG. I keep the boats covered all the time here. They keep the critters out and helps protect the interior of from the elements and blowing leaves.
bassmedic46; The football game was a blow out they won 62-3. I left at the beginning of the 4th quarter. I got home and got the shop vac and drained the G3. It didn't take too long. With the weather forecast the carpet should be dried in a couple days.
Jim; Its was cold this morning but by the end of the week we're looking at 70's for the highs. I leave the drain plugs out in both the G3 and Stratos. For the most part the cover on the Stratos does a good job of keeping water out. Except for this last hail storm the cover split right across the consoles. There's a floor drain in the center of the floor right in front of the seats. All the incoming water drained down into the hull and runs out the back of the drain hole. The G3 just fills up due to the way it sits on the trailer. Both are drying out now and hopefully by Wednesday I'll have the covers back on them.
To everyone have a relaxing and pleasant Sunday. Enjoy that family time together. Be safe in your travels if you have to get out.
Went and put 6mi in at the local Mountain Bike Park. After 2yrs off the bikes, I was shocked to see that I wasn't as slow as I thought I would be, even at 42yrs old and after open chest surgery 12mo ago.

Hell, I'm not even on a newer style bike, it's an old Schwinn. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20221113/d651b5f2e15e8b0de326a0711c0ffcb3.jpg)

Good morning!!! 33 headed to 40, snow on the ground, partly cloudy, nice late fall day. Saw my primary care Doc Friday, I have an MRI with contrast December 9th of my kidneys to see what's up there, not waiting for the other Doctor. I have a busy December coming up, I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now.
Top, good news about the biking, keep it up.
D3, The snow is starting, don't know if it'll keep coming but it's beginning. You'll be close to the St. Lawrence, it's been on fire the last few years, big catches and trophy size smallmouths. I hope you have good ear plugs. lo
Bud, glad you didn't get hit hard, I'm sure it'll warm back up a bit more.
Bass medic, you're in our daily prayers.
Donald, good to be quiet at the fun farm, better to not be there. Hope all your tests go well, it's amazing what they can do now, I'm glad of it.
Have a great day, be well!!!
Rodney
Good evening from Central Texas
Hope everyone has had a pleasant day today. Our forecast temps for the area here were 38-48dgrs with 97%humidity and a N wind @ 10mphs. It rained on and off for most of the day.
Spent the morning at the VA Hospital taking care of business. I had a Lab appointment first thing turned in my 24hours urine collection; Next stop was the Open Wound Clinic they removed my old bandages, cleaned up the lower legs and rewrapped them. They told next week I'll be able to get my regular shoes back on my feet ~c~ The lower leg area was looking good and the blisters have disappeared. There was still some slight swelling but they have a plan for that next week. Last appointment was with the Kidney Doctor. We're making some progress he doesn't want to get into a big hurry and over work the kidneys. To everyone Thank Y'all for all the prayers ~shade we're still Vertical and Breathing ;)
I formally submitted my retirement paperwork today. HR sent me an email letting me know they'd receive it. January 3rd 2023 is just around the corner and I can't wait. The Custodian Director will now have a month and half to find my replacement. Hopefully we'll have some time together and show him or her around.
Rodney; Best wishes on your up and coming medical visits and treatments. I still have ya in my daily prayers. We're moving forward in a positive way with my medical issues.
Top; That's darn good news that you're able to perform that task. Tks for sharing that with us.
To everyone have a really pleasant and relaxing evening.
Good morning!!! 35 headed to a balmy 38, cloudy, no sun, dry, another good day to run and gun fish, find them slow down and catch a couple then back to run and gunning.
Donald, congrats on the retirement, so you are now, officially, a short timer, counting the days and the hours, Mrs. Donald is getting the honey-do list, probably a book, ready. lo Your recliner will get a real workout. lo After a week or so the wandering around will begin along with the retirement stare but you'll get the hang of it and become laid back like Bud and I. You and Mrs. Donald will spend more time together and catch up on what you missed while you were working. You're still in our daily prayers.
Have a great day, be well!!!
Rodney
It has been a rainy and somewhat cool day today. It finally go to about 64 for a high and the promise of much cooler weather ahead for at least through the Thanksgiving holiday.
Spent some time today continuing to do prep work for painting my man room. I am about ready to start slinging some paint on the ceiling. The big deal is moving stuff around so I can reach where I need to reach. In our little house just not enough room to have the benefit of removing everything. So it will be an exercise in moving stuff around to reach all the places. I am not in a hurry to get it all done and will be taking my time although the Mrs. seems to think I am gonna work day and night and get it done in a short time. She always asks if I want her help but with her mobility issues and a bit of dementia it is better for her to not be involved and I realize this upsets her. In all her years she has always been able to help do tasks like this but unfortunately that is kinda difficult these days.
Greetings from Central Texas
Forecasted temps from our area here were 36-46dgrs with 80%humidity and a E wind @ 4mphs. It was somewhat sunny today and on the chilly side.
I got an email from HR today wanting to do an Exit Interview. I answered all the questions and sent it back. I spent most of the day working on the Desk Top Standard Operating Procedure Book for my replacement. The director called me and informed me she posted my position and will start interviewing hopefully the end of this month.
I worked late yesterday & today to make up the 4 hours I was gone on Monday. Tomorrow I'll be running around on the Gator. My outside day person just texted me he's not coming to work due to his wife being sick. He's going to be watching the kids.
Its' going to be a busy day now.
Bud; sir you have fun painting your man room. Sorry to hear of the wife's health condition. I still have y'all in my daily prayers. Hope she gets to feeling better soon.
Rodney; Tks buddy, I'm so ready for this to get started. Yep the Honey Do List is being formulated already. We kinda talked a little bit about it already. Both back decks need power cleaned and re-stained and water proofed. All (10) of the flower beds need re-mulched which means several trips down to the dirt shop. Of course each flower bed will have to be de-weeded prior to re-mulching them. The front porch steps need power cleaned and re-stained and water proofed also. And lastly there will be the morning walks to get the blood pumping and flowing through the body. Yes sir I'm looking forward to all of this.
To everyone have a blessed day tomorrow. Be safe in your travels if your having to get out.
Good morning!!! 33 headed to 42, last I looked out at the streetlight snow was coming down, the ground is sort of covered, but it's melting. We have several days of this then it warms up a touch. Not much going on here, just waiting for the procedures to get done, sitting with a heating pad on my back and shoulder. So, are we ready for war? I see what's going on in Ukraine and wonder why the poor Poles are getting sucked into that mess, and they say the grownups are in charge.
Bud, I feel for you and what you're having to do for mrs. Bud, went through it with my mother, my sister lived down south so I had to make choices I didn't want to, growing older isn't for sissies. You're in our daily prayers.
Donald, it doesn't sound like you're retiring, just changing jobs. lo Are you going to change your phone numbers when you retire? How are your fishing plans coming? My wife will be taking Family Leave when my shoulder gets done, hopefully when I'll be able to travel a bit we will be able to.
Have a great day, be well!!!
Rodney
Medical appointment today with my cardiologist. Just a routine check up with ekg. I am pleased to report that all is well. The Doctor says my heart is in the condition of a much younger person than my almost 77 years. I am glad to hear that but I know that when it comes to the heart things can happen without notice. For now I am happy about the good report. Considering that I have been a smoker for 60 years this continues to amaze me. I guess I was awarded a good set of genes.
A fairly nice day to day. Temps in the lower 60s and partly cloudy skies. Lows tonight down to the lower 40s so all in all still good. Really cold weather heading in by tomorrow night and will continue through thanksgiving. I guess we will not be cooking out this holiday.
Donald just to be clear about honey do lists. They may be documented but they don't have to be completed during your first days of retirement. Time to get some more hours in your recliner just to keep your old guy license active. Don't make the rest of us unemployed old folks look bad. LOL
Howdy from Belton, Texas ;)
Forecasted temps for today were 38 - 52dgrs with 52% humidity and NE wind @ 4mphs. Everyone seems to be enjoying this cooler weather here. I know I am ~shade
Busy day today and a bad day turned into a GREAT DAY. A few weeks ago I got an email directing me that my team was tasked with moving all the library furniture out so new carpet could be installed. I went in today and brought my tape measure and wow. We have 12 book cases in the library. All of them are all one piece units. Some have 3 compartments for books. Some have 4, 5 6 and 7 compartments. They range in length from 12ft >>22ft long. I called my director and supervisor with my concerns. They showed up we had a meeting with the principal and associate principal. Phone calls were made and the bottom line was. The assistance director from Maintenance was told he was in charge and he already had a plan. That was GREAT NEWS my team and I are no longer part of this situation. The assistance director from maintenance was told weeks ago this was his project etc. Someone decided to start an email that went around and around causing a lot of unnecessary headaches. Wow the day ended on a good note and I'm really glad for that. I didn't want this headache.
Bud; Yes sir I understand about the Honey Do List Completion time frame. I had to laugh out loud when I read your posting. I'm the type that if the nagging starts etc. I'll quit work or I'll just slow down even more ~shade In the past when given the tasking I'll sit down and do up a plan etc. then I'll come in and explain my time line. Most of the time it gets approved with that evil look once in a while. Redoing those decks I'm going to get on line and see what the local contractors will charge. I've done the desk a couple times prior and it's taken me a week each time. We'll just wait and see how motivated I am when the time comes around.
Sure hope the wife gets better soon for ya. We still have her and you in our daily prayers. Tks also and glad to hear your check up went well for ya.
Rodney; Hate hearing that white stuff is starting to come down. I hate that stuff and glad we don't get very much of it here in Central Texas. Those projects I mentioned are the Big Major ones. There going to get spread out over time for sure. I might even hire a contractor to come in and handle those deck missions :-\
Fishing isn't on my radar right now. Our lakes are so low and still dropping it's not funny. I turned the Master Switch on the Stratos and there's an 1/8 tank gas left in there still. I need to pull it out and get the tank filled up. I don't like not having a full tank when it's just sitting. I checked a couple fishing reports and those catching the fish are fishing really DEEP.....now over structure. I'm not that kind of fisherman. I like fishing 20ft and less ;)
Good luck and we have you in our daily prayers. Hope the upcoming surgery goes well for ya.
To everyone have a relaxing evening and a better day tomorrow.
Im glad your health situations seem to be trending positive. Looks like it's starting to get cold put most of your areas especially Rodney. The temps up in Watertown look like they fell through the floor in the matter of a couple weeks its now diving down to single digits and the teens forecasted. I hope the house is alright until I get there. We have been very busy and are tonight. Packers come in the morning and everything has to be segregated that isnt going. Alot of work. Congrats Don!!!! A long time coming I hope you enjoy it and make the best of it. Bud, my blood pressure was high today but I am in a back spasm so that would most likely explain it (plus I drank a bunch of beers last night haha

). I got 6 injections in the facet joints 3-4-5 on both sides with a test hit of lidocaine to see if that was the causing areas. It did not make a difference. They offered to do an epidural to a disc pretrution area but I turned it down for now atleast until I get settled based on the risk. Ended up leaving with celebrex, gabepentin, and 14 tramedol pills to get me to the other side as needed. Everyone be safe and stay in good health.

hello everyone....been so busy for the last 18 months its insane travelling all the time and not a lot of time at home.
recently upgraded the boat to lithium for cranking and electronics only power, while i was at it i went ahead and picked up a livescope and a garmin graph. So running a mega 360 and livescope now. Picked up a dual graph mount which makes everything really good looking plus a th marine troll jacket. Much much better cable management -- highly recommend!!
anyway, so of course as Murphy would have it, my power steering went kaput so i was regulated to idling around since i couldnt turn good (think like a 47 ford truck without power steering lo
anyway, as with everything else, even mechanics are in short supply so boat has been at the shop for weeks now. Today I get the call -- bad pump (i suspected this but still annoying), Luckily when i bought the dirty bird in 2018, I also bought the platinum service plan -- basically that just paid for itself.
hopefully i have a new pump installed by next week because i am heading to lake mitchell in December to try and get on some big coosa spots.
good to see the normal folks in here yik yakking away.....
Good morning!!! 33 headed to 37, cloudy, possible flurries, tomorrow the snow is supposed to begin and last through the weekend. Sigh....... We get hit I'll try to get it plowed, I have no desire to break out the Husqvarna, I'll be down for a week. I'll be having others doing it this winter, my shoulder will be done when we start into the real snow.
Bud, congrats on a good exam for your heart, that and the lungs are the biggies, the rest can be fixed or replaced.
D3, have the temp set at 60 in the house just to be sure nothing freezes. Sorry to hear the injections didn't do much for you. You're in our daily prayers.
Caddy, good to hear from you, hope you get the boat back soon so you can regale us with tales of monumental catches.
Donald, really good news, there would probably an exodus of workers if they had to move those bookcases. I just find it amazing that a brand new building has to be overhauled so soon. For some strange reason I don't see Mrs. Donald nagging, at least not very much, I don't think you'll have a hard time with having contractors for the bigger things and you've always taken care of the rest and I don't think that'll change. Sorry to hear about the lack of water, hopefully it'll come back over the winter.
Have a great day, be well!!!
Rodney
Good Morning Everyone, 37 degrees here and cloudy. Typing hasn't been easy on top of everything appears I have Arthritis in my fingers. Hard to believe one fall did all this. My wife is working but her memory loss seems to be getting worse. Talk of moving to a warmer climate has come up. Not sure where to go.
Donald, That was definitely great news that you didn't need to move those book cases. Our ponds and lakes are low as well. Hopefully your lakes get higher over the winter.
Old Fart, prayers the operation goes well.
Bud, How is your man cave coming? Prayers for you and your wife.
I hope everyone has a great day and tight lines to those on the water. Keeping everyone in my prayers.
Getting cold tonight. Lows over night are forecasted down to 28 degrees. Had to get the tender plants covered up and some have been moved into the garage and others into the house. Garden hoses are now in the garage and covers have been placed on all of the outdoor spigots. Currently it is 45 degrees and dropping fast. Going to be a clear cloudless night that will really help with this cooling that is taking place. Looks like the cooler weather will be here for at least another week. Looking at the national map, I see most of the country is taking part in the cold and for you folks in the upper midwest and around the great lakes you need to get ready for some lake effect snow. I see that Buffalo is being forecasted for up to 4ft of the white stuff.
Good evening to everyone,
Forecasted temps across Central Texas today were 36-58dgrs with 56% humidity and S wind @ 5mphs. We got some rain moving into the area on Saturday and will be lasting a couple day maybe.
Spent most of the day working on my Standard Operating Procedure Book and my Desk Top SOP Book. If I don't have the opportunity to spend some time with my replacement at least they'll have a couple binders to flip through.
The maintenance guys started moving book cases and I've seen were some of the old carpet came up. Guess what was not present on those pieces of carpet??? Amazing the quality of work that was not done during the construction of this bldg. It is really sad.
Tomorrow is the last day of school and I'm glad. Next week we'll get to do some serious cleaning. We'll work Mon > Wed and have Thursday and Friday off to enjoy the Holiday.
Bud; Hope you enjoy that cooler weather. We've had a little taste of it not down in the 20's but the low 30's.
bassmedic46; Got you and the wife in my daily prayers buddy. Tks for taking the time to stop by and provide an update.
Rodney; Got you covered in the daily prayers my good man. Always prayer for a full recovery. My wife doesn't nag too much but sometimes I get an ear full. We work pretty good together when doing outside yard projects. It's going to take some major rain out in the Western part of the state for our lakes here to fill back up. We'll just have to wait and see what happens during the Winter.
Caddyjoe; Glad you had the time to drop in. Hope the boat gets back to ya soon.
Dark 3; I got ya in my daily prayers buddy. Hope your health improves here before you have to make that long drive.
To everyone be safe in your travels. I have y'all in my daily prayers.
Good morning to everyone,
We're starting the day off with overcast skies with rain moving in later on this morning.
Forecasted temps for today are 35-46dgrs with 82%humidity and a NW wind @ 5mphs.
Nothing special happening around here today. I'm watching church from home this morning we have on-line services also. The wife will be fixing lunch here. The day will be spent relaxing in the recliner. Tomorrow I have a appointment at the Open Wound Clinic at the VA Hospital. They'll be removing the bandages on both of my legs and I'll get to start wearing regular shoes again. The protein draining continues slowly and there is improvement in the de-swelling of the lower legs.
Hope everyone has had a pleasant and relaxing weekend so far. We're all enjoying this cooler weather were having here across Central Texas ~shade
To everyone be safe in your travels and enjoy that family time together ;)
Still coolish here at the beach. Current temp is 50 and most likely will stay at that temp most of the day before falling overnight to a forecasted low of 28 once again. Weather will continue this mixed bag through Thanksgiving although it will warm into the mid 60s on turkey day. I wanted to take the boat out next week but it does not look like that will happen if the forecast holds.
Spent yesterday doing domestic chores around the house. Got the roses all cut down and hauled away to the recycle center but still have to mulch the remaining canes for the winter. My Japanese maple tree will get trimmed this week just to shape it up a bit. We also mowed the lawn that may just be the last time until early spring. We also applied some winterizer fertilizer so that chore is also done. Still prepping my man room for paint and will begin to paint the ceiling starting tomorrow while the Mrs. is at her physical therapy. There always is something to do around here that often times is unexpected. The valve in the Wife's toilet was starting to show signs of failure so I replaced the innards of the tank and while I was at it I replaced the same thing in my bathroom. Not a bad job to do just one of the many tasks that any homeowner faces on a routine basis. Next on the schedule is to jump into the shower for a nice hot soak and into some clean clothes. Past that nothing else is planned for today.
Good Afternoon Everyone, 32 degrees here and very windy. Cold in church today as the heat wasn't working. Taking my wife out to dinner for our Anniversary.
Bud, Prayers your wife's therapy went well. Owning a home projects never end. Hopefully you get out on the water this week.
Donald, Have a good day relaxing. That's great news about your legs.
Continued prayers for everyone. I hope everyone has a great day and a safe one.
Good morning!!! 27 headed to 42, partly cloudy, high winds this afternoon. We basically got traces of snow while parts of Buffalo south got up to 6 feet, they are digging out but there has been damage, some collapsed buildings and roofs, power outages which are being taken care of most roads are open but not all, welcome to the Great Lakes area. My Bride and I celebrate our 52nd anniversary today, we're going to head out to dinner somewhere this evening, it'll be interesting, many restaurants are closed on Mondays, it'll happen. Had a rough 5 days with a virus of some sort, not covid, and with the fronts bad shoulder and back but it's cleared up for now.
Bassmedic, congrats for your anniversary, you both remain in our daily prayers.
Bud, hope you get to Float the Ranger soon, I don't know about you but I'm tired of the cold weather already, used to love it but my old body, not so much now. lo
Donald, good news about your legs!!! I would think the school district would be able to start lawsuits on the construction of the building, the carpet should be replaced no cost and someone should be able to stand there and be sure the job is done correctly, the same with the rest of the building. This is just plain profiteering and greed. Back in the early 90s they decided to rebuild the street we live on, took the road down 20 feet to dig out an old trolly track, new sewers, water, and gas lines, new sidewalks all of it. We had just had a new concrete driveway put in, most here are asphalt, I got home from work and the first slb was gone, they had fun with that, the concrete was 6,000 test and the rebar had been laid, seems the concrete company had a full load and only needed a yard of it so they asked the guy doing the job if he wanted it at the regular price, he jumped on it. Anyway, I parked the work truck on the side street then toddeled on up the street to the construction trailer, knocked on the door and told the guy about the driveway, just wanted to be sure it was replaced correctly, he walked back with me said no problem but would I be ok with a standard slab with rebar, I said ok. It was getting near fall and I got home and a new slab was put in, it looked like crap, the original was brushed and edged and looked neat and clean, the mason and his crew were sitting on his tailgate and when I said it looked like crap and wasn't going to work he laughed at me. I toddeled back up to the construction trailer, knocked on the door, the same guy answered the door and I told him I was the guy who talked to him about the new driveway, he remembered and said oh yeah, the new slab was put in today, how is it and I told him it looked like shit, he walked back with me, took one look with the mason standing by him looking like a servile little butt kisser, the mason wasn't happy, he was told to take it out and replace it right, took him about 5 days but he did it. I got home from work and the mason was waiting for me, he asked me what I thought and I told him that'll work, why didn't you do it the first time. The city turned the project over to the local gas and electric company who knew street construction and while contractors were well paid they were checked for quality of work. Several years ago the city rebuilt the street next to ours, they were the contractor, took 3 times as long to do less work and the work was poorly done, I have little faith in our city to get anything done correctly. Anyway, hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and get to talk both your daughter and son. Keep up the good work on your legs.
Have a great day, be well!!!
Rodney
After a cool start to the day the sun came out this afternoon. Temps today in the low 60s with a calm wind. Was nice sitting in my chair in the garage soaking up some sun. Had to go get groceries for the week and stuff for a simple Thanksgiving meal. I also stopped by and paid my boat storage lot rent for another month. Past that it was a nothing day. I expect more of the same tomorrow. Hope everyone is getting ready for the holiday.
Good Afternoon (in Cali anyway), hope all is well, don I hope you are feeling ok going through alot at the hospital and that must make standing uncomfortable at times. Rodney, I forget what part of NY are you in? The house we bought in watertown is still sitting vacant. The flooring contractor is still working in the house and then the paint guy will fome back in to re-install baseboards. However, the snow storm completely buried the house and the driveway is a decent length. I had to pay a guy to bring a bobcat out and dig it out. Set me back $225. Didnt have the option of staying on top of it obviously as I am not there. Movers took everything. Will be cleaning the next couple days. Hope everyone has good days/week.

Howdy from Central Texas :)
It was a gloomy day today ~shade It rained all day today it was one of those slow light rains ~rain Our forecasted temps were 40 - 43 dgrs with 99% humidity with a SE wind @ 3 mphs. There is rain in the forecast everyday this week and into the weekend.
Made my doctors appointment this morning. The bandages are off and wow what a difference in the weight of my legs. They cleaned them up and provided with different options for the treatments. I took the one where I have a compression sleeve that slides over the entire foot and calf up to the knees. I now have a compression Velcro wrapped bandage that covers the ankles up just below the knee. I can remove it at night clean the area and coat the area with a lotion. In the morning I put everything back on and head on out to work. The bandages I had on prior I had to cover with a plastic cover to keep everything dry. If those bandages got wet it was an automatic trip to the emergency room for replacement bandages. Life is good ;) Guys tks for all the well prayers.
It was a pretty slow day at work once I got there. We're having to change our cleaning chemical company again. Seems lately we change companies every year. I have quiet a stock pile of chemical from the previous two years. They won't let us just dump them down the drains either.
The wife is all excited now. Our nephew and his wife are coming down for Thanksgiving. They live up in SE Missouri near Popular Bluff area. I haven't seen him in years. They'll be here Thursday, Friday and part of Saturday. They're heading to Galveston, TX to catch a cruise ship on Monday. It's been a long while since we've had company stop in. I'm looking forward to the visit.
Dark3; you going to buy you a bobcat / 4wheeler with a plow for snow removable once you get settled in? I hate that white stuff. Y'all can have it all. Y'all be safe driving up there.
Bud; Sounds like a real relaxing day you had there. Glad you were able to enjoy it. The wife went shopping to buy additional food items for Thanksgiving Dinner now the nephew and wife are stopping by. We were going to have a pretty simple meal just for the 2 of us. Now she's going to be busy cooking and getting things done. I'm sure I'll have a part in getting things done somehow or another ???
Rodney; My good man Congrats to you and your wife on 52yrs ~c~ Hope y'all had a pleasant evening out. I stopped by the library just prior to getting off work. I had to turn the hallway lights off. There were 3 contractors slapping glue on the floor and setting the new carpet squares in place. I'm sure glad my team and I didn't have to move those book cases or those long tables. Our school district just approved the construction of (2) additional grade schools. I just hope they don't use the contractors or subcontractors that built our high school.
bassmedic46; Congrats to you and your wife also on your anniversary ~c~ I still have ya in my daily prayers buddy.
Guys tks again for the well wishes on the legs. I appreciate those prayers. I still have everyone here in my daily prayers also. Ya'll have a pleasant day tomorrow and be safe and be aware of your surroundings if you out.

D3, there are several areas along the Lake Ontario south shore that get excessive amounts of snow, you're in one of them, the worst is down by Tug Hill Plateau. Buffalo isn't one of them, theirs comes off of Erie, it tends to run south through the southern tier, kind of splits Buffalo and Erie county in half. If I were you I'd buy a big garden tractor with a PTO so you can mount a snow thrower. Hope you have a good trip!!!
Good morning!!! 33 headed to 43, partly cloudy, should be a good day considering the season.
My wife and I had a good anniversary yesterday, the only problem was the weather had us both on ice at dinner time, we did a binge on Gabriel Iglesias, funny man.
Bud, sounds like you're ready for quiet Thanksgiving, hope it's a good one for you.
Donald, I wonder if your replacement will put up with the crap you did, your military experience taught you what crap to squash and what to ignore, not a lot of folks with that. I'll be helping my wife with what I can but she doesn't like extra hands doing the cooking except for my daughter, she does the same thing with summer Sunday meals, I sometimes have to put my foot down when it comes time to play with fire. lo She really enjoys doing it from planning to clean up. Good news about your legs, make it a bit easier to get around.
Have a great day, be well!!!
Rodney
Painted the ceiling in my man room today. What a job....My ceilings are the popcorn type and are not the easiest to paint. Especially a room that I used to smoke in. I now am exiled to the garage when I need a smoke. The ceiling is now done and it does not look too bad and seems to look better as it dries. I have a couple spots to touch up tomorrow and then I have to get ready to do the walls and then all the woodwork. It is still a work in process and is about all this old man can handle but I will get it done.
Weather today was nice with temps into the upper 60s and some partly sunny skies and a calm breeze. It turned out to be a good day to do some of my honey do items. Now I have to put the garage back in order or just let the wife's car sit outside tonight. I have to ask She who shall be obeyed if that is ok with her. Caution needs to be exercised because if she says ok it could be likely that she will complain about it all evening LOL.
Good evening to everyone,
Forecasted temps across Central Texas today were 49-56dgrs with 81%humidity and an E wind @ 3mphs. Rain is in the forecast for the rest of the week. Lows are forecasted to be in the low 40's with highs in the 50's and low 60's.
First thing this morning I got a phone call from Bank of America. Someone tried to use my credit card at Best Buys last night. I thank them for contacting me and we canceled the old card and I should have a new one in 7 -10 days. So my day didn't start off all that well. The headache continues below >:(
I spent a couple hours driving around town looking for an HP 28 tricolor ink cartridge. Walmart used to carry them in the store but now they don't, Staples has them on line but not in the stores. Perry's office supply doesn't carry them and Office Depot has them on line but not in the store. Amazing they all have the # 27 black cartridge but not the # 28 color one >:( I went on line and there everywhere. I hate buy stuff like this on line. I want it right now not 48 hrs. later ~shade I've had this HP Deskjet 3845 printer along time and it does what I need it to do. Walmart had printers on sale today for $49.00 dollars. I hate buying new electronic equipment.
The wife has been busy as all heck getting things done around the house and planning for the nephew and his wife arrival. She asked me this morning if I'd mow the yard before it starts raining again. She wants it to look nice when they arrive. So after getting off work today I came home and fired up the trimmer and the John Deere Mower. The yard looks nice and it going to start raining tonight ;)
Bud; Sounds like a productive day for ya. Glad to hear the ceiling painting went well for ya. We have a garage also my wife had it constructed. We have joint usage of it so to speak. Her car stays in there dry and warm. I have lots of wall space for my stuff and I'm not complaining one bit. I asked her once about keeping the Stratos in there and the the immediate answer was "It not happening" I already knew the answer prior to asking the question. I just wanted verification of the answer lo Hopefully your wife's car will be ok out over night ~shade
Rodney; I don't know who they're going to hire as my replacement. I know one of my day ladies has submitted her application. I helped her put it together etc. I'd like to see her get it due to the fact she's been with me for 3yrs. She is a model worker I wished everyone worked as hard as she does. I put the finishing touches to the Desk Top Standard Operating Procedure Book this morning. The Continuity Book is done also. Now if they'll just take the time to read it. I doubt that they will. They'll learn everything the hard way.
I let my wife do the cooking, if she needs additional help I'll provide that to her. She is excited about this visit and I'm looking forward to it also.
You guys have a relaxing and pleasant day tomorrow. Be safe in your travels if you have to get out.
Good evening from Belton, Texas 8)
Forecasted temps for across Central Texas today were 57- 61dgrs with 68% humidity and a SE wind @ 4mphs. Its been raining on and off all day today.
Quiet day at work. We did a little Team Cleaning of (3) unassigned areas. After they completed that task they worked in their own areas. We're now off for our Thanksgiving Holidays. It's back to work on Monday Morning again.
To everyone have a very pleasant Thanksgiving Day tomorrow. Enjoy the family time together. Be safe during the long weekend if your traveling to and from.
Good morning to all,
We're starting the day off with sunny skies ~sun Its been raining here for the past week. It's been one of those steady light rights that does wonders for the flower beds and yards. Forecasted temps for across Central Texas today are 40-57dgrs with 93%humidity and a W wind @13mphs. We're forecasted for bright sunny skies for the next 6 days.
Thanksgiving has come and gone our nephew and wife arrived safely from SE Missouri. We enjoyed Thanksgiving meal together on Friday. My wife out did herself with the preparation of the meal. Early Friday evening our guest packed up and continued their trip down to Galveston, TX to catch the Cruise Ship.
The wife and I are taking in a movie at the local theater this morning. The rest of the day will be spent relaxing.
I hope everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving Day and had the opportunity to spent some quality time with their families.
Be safe during this holiday weekend if you're out traveling.
Sorry to be short, hope you guys are feeling good and making the best of it. Im in wendover utah. Day 1 in the books. My back actually feels great after taking the first day of tramedol and driving 8 hours. Staying out of spasm is the key.

It is a rainy warm day here at the beach. Temps actually warmed up overnight and it is now 71 with a little bit of wind. Nothing planned for today except some relaxation although I am anxious to continue painting in my man room.
Ceiling is all finished and about half of the room walls have been painted. The tough part still to come with having to move around a couple tall book cabinets that need to be emptied so I can move them along with my desk that also includes an under desk file cabinet on rollers and a typing return that is also on rollers. The disconnecting the electrical and computer wiring is the pain in the neck part. I also have three lateral files that are two drawer that I use as a credenza style set up and last but not least a 4 drawer metal file cabinet. I kinda have to move these things around the room so I can get to the walls. Not really a big deal just moving the stuff around will take some time. I had picked a very light platinum grey color for the walls to enable contrast to all the white woodwork that I have not yet painted.
I am hoping to bring the boat home some time this coming week so I can put on the new South Carolina 2023 registration sticker. The current one expires on December 31st so I do have a little bit of time. I know the wife wants to put up the Christmas tree but I have so much stuff stashed in the living room that I need to finish the man room so I can put the stuff back into the man room. All in all it has been a fun project just a little slower than I would like but that comes with the age territory. I might do some things today but I doubt it. Unfortunately She who shall be obeyed is starting to suggest that other rooms might need painted. I will try to ignore statements like that but as most of you know. Resistance is Futile.
Dark, hope the rest of your journey is without too much pain and everyone stays safe as you travel across the country.
Good afternoon to all,
Bright sunny skies are shinning down across Central Texas today ~sun ~sun We're forecasted for lot of sun this week. We need it to dry out. It rained just about everyday last week. Of course it wasn't the type of rain we needed to fill the lakes back up :(
Forecasted temps for Central Texas today are 42-66dgrs with 50% humidity and a NE wind @ 4mphs.
We went to church this morning and had lunch at our favorite Chinese Restaurant afterwards. We went for a short drive over to Stillhouse Lake afterwards to the South end where the Lampasas River comes under the long bridge and the lake starts forming. The lake and river are so low it would be really hazardous to even attempt to be in this area. The river channel is a good 20yards away from the Summer Pool bank line. The Corps or some one has pulled up the flowing dock and removed it. It's not even on the bank. We saw 100's of coots out swimming around and eating around the hydrilla that still growing in spots.
The rest of the day is being spent washing clothes for the upcoming work week and relaxing. I found this 'Old School Bass Fishing Videos' < that's the name of the videos on YouTube last week I spent a couple hours yesterday refreshing my mind on how to flip and pitch with Denny Bauer. All them pros sure are young looking back 70's > 80's then lo Gary Klein looks like he was in his mid twenties back then. He more than likely was ~shade
Bud; Hope you continue to have fun getting the Man Room Redone. My Man Room here > Computer Room < There's a Futon, a tall book case with 1986 encyclopedia sitting in it. There's a couple other things that's taking up space also that could go. This room is going to get added to the things to do this coming Spring. Good luck on getting the Ranger home this week also. I just put new registration stickers on my Stratos earlier this month. We're good for another couple years. You have a good week coming up.
Dark3; Safe travels buddy. Enjoy the road trip, hope you have excellent traveling weather.
To everyone enjoy the weekend whets left of it. Be safe traveling back home if you were out visiting family and friends.
Another short update if anyone is interested in this journey. Day 2 down, we are in Cheyenne, WY and boy is it cold and windy. Typical high wind blowing across the roads with trucks over turned while tackling this state. White knuckle driving most of the day. Back is doing ok for what it is.

Good morning!!! 38 headed to 41, off and on rain, continuation of the weekend, blah but we need it. Next Monday I get my injections, I stopped taking my low dose aspirin and Thursday I have to get a covid test+, later in the day or the following I have to get another covid test for an MRI on Friday, it's getting busy for my healthcare. Somewhere in all this I need a CT-scan of my shoulder to get the right size replacement, busy time.
D3, hope the rest of your trip goes well and you reach your new house and it's warm and toasty. If you get to drive around I think you'll be surprised at how low the big lake is.
Bud, hope you get your painting done with no further mention of the rest of the house needing paint, the Man cave sounds like it looks great.
Donald, Thanksgiving is over so you now become an official shortimer, bet it feels good. The big lake, Ontario is low, to the point most launches are to shallow to launch from, quite a change from 3 or 4 years ago. I think you're right, whoever takes over will try to reinvent what works and will stick with what doesn't because they're too stubborn, not your problem, you're leaving them with them with a good operation. Hope you're lakes fill by next season. Have a great day, be well!!!
Rodney
Man room paint job is now about 90% done. I still have to unload two tall book cases so I can safely move then and then I can finish the last section of about 6 ft x 8 ft. The next step will be to begin to re paint all the white woodwork and wood doors and that will do it. Still a bunch to do but the final finish will have to wait until we get the Christmas stuff put up in the living room and on the shrubs in the front yard. So far everything has gone well and it sure looks a whole lot better. I will need to go get another quart of paint to have here at the house to be used for touch ups over the next few years as something can always get bunged up over time.
It was another nice day here at the beach with a little wind this morning but calmed down a bit this afternoon. I was able to repaint a ceiling register and will likely put it back on tomorrow. Temps today did reach into the low 70s with lots of sunshine. We took the pets for a walk around the neighborhood a while ago so we have our daily walk completed.
One thing for sure all the stuff I had stashed in my man room won't be coming back in. I have got to get better at throwing stuff away. Most is still good but I just don't need it and haven't needed it for at least 10 years. Probably after I throw it away then I will need it. LOL All of the fishing stuff however is safe from the trash bin.
Made it to Omaha NE. Day 3 down. Back is doing good surprisingly. Somehow have a cold and it's miserable. I haven't been sick in years. Ears are popped, little cough here and there but just feel shitty. Its warm, like 50, and the wind is still. Tmrw will be pushing to south of chicago to a town called joliet.

The walls and the ceiling in the man room are finished. Now I get to start on the woodwork. First however I have to get the Christmas decorations in the house and get them put up and if the weather cooperates I will put some lights on the shrubs out front.
I had to go get some more paint so I could finish the walls. It turns out I was just a wee bit short. At least now I have a small amount that I can use for touch ups over the next few years. I probably don't have enough of the white paint I am using for the woodwork. Will have to see how that goes before I go get any more.
Last job of the day was to go to the recycle center and get rid of some stuff and then on to the grocery store for a few groceries. Aside from making some supper for tonight I am done for the day. I am holding up fairly well for an old geezer and for that I am thankful. The job took me a bit longer than it used to but it got done and that is the most important thing.
Chicago-Day 4. Will make it to Erie tomorrow with a short push in the following day. Hope all is well!

Good morning!!! 47 headed to 48, rain, blah. Oh the adventure of it all, Monday I kept getting phone calls for about my shoulder, my ct-scan is scheduled for Tuesday, tomorrow I need to get my covid test for my injections, I need to find if they'll work for Tuesday, if not Friday I'll have to get another. Monday I need to have a covid test for my MRI Friday, I got a call my shoulder replacement is denied, a bunch reasons none of which is why I need the replacement. Since the insurance company had a different company doing the reviews every thing I needed done was denied then the Doctors had to jump through hoops to get the procedure approved, it wouldn't be so bad but the time is short and the ct-scan is part of the evidence for the need, it'll happen but the powers that be just have flex their authority, just like the government, I'm a bit frustrated.
Have a great day, be well!!!
Rodney
Good evening to everyone,
The last day of November, wow the month has just flown by. I'll have the December posting done here shortly after closing this one out.
It was fricking cold here this morning :surrender: Yesterday it was in the 80's nice and warm. Woke up this morning to 31dgr weather and a howling wind :shocking:
Forecasted temps for across Central Texas today were 31-53dgrs with 40% humidity and N wind @ 7mphs. We got some more rain in the forecast for the weekend ahead.
Not much happening at school. Tomorrow the Custodian Services Director starts interviewing people to replace me. I can't wait to start transiting with my replacement. I am so ready for 3 Jan 2023 to get here. The Central Texas Master Gardeners held their annual Christmas Party last night. My wife received her 10 year Service Pin at the ceremony. I always enjoy going to this event the food is catered and the members of the Master Gardeners always bring the deserts. I over did it on the deserts last night :food lo I couldn't help myself ~shade
Rodney; My good man I'm confused reading your posting. I hope that the upcoming surgery is still a GO?? I got you in my daily prayers buddy.
Dark3; Tks for the trip update. I have ya in my prayers also. Hope the trip continues to be a good one for ya.
Bud; Tks for the update on your Man Room. Hope you're able to take a breather here afterwards.
To everyone have a relaxing evening and I hope tomorrow brings you a really pleasant day.
Getting close now and its dumping snow here in Erie, PA!
