I heard they may close the pass so you can't get to the ski slopes this weekend. dunno. either way...BRING IT. for my own selfish needs I want a few lakes to get deeper. :)
I'm up by Shasta Lake , Local weather says that it might not be a big event. Hope they are wrong! We need the rain and snow bad.

Indeed. Let us know. It seemed like a smaller storm last night. I could barely hear it. :(
We had 0.05" Friday night here. Was weird to here rain to be honest. What did y'all get up there??
We have had a decent dousing in the general Sacramento area. Lake Oroville has come up about 3 feet and needs to rise another 5 feet to get us back on the lowest concrete ramp. Our little Camp Far West has come up 8 feet, but still has a long way to rise before it's back on concrete. Forecast has more rain coming in the next week. I am a fir-weather fisherman these days, but I don't mind staying home if we can build up our water supply. It's also great to see the snow in the mountains during breaks in the storms.
we got 2.5"- 3" depending on where you live.
Clearlake only came up a couple of inches. my local bodies, Lake Sonoma, etc came up 2 feet. nowhere near where some of the other ramps open.
we need way more.
Lake Oroville has come up about 5 feet and the lowest concrete ramp at Bidwell is now usable. Our Old Guys fishing club was out there yesterday for a fun day and had a pretty good day. Water temp is 52-53 degrees. I got on a decent jig bite after forcing myself to put down the Ned rig, lo
Camp Far West has come up several feet but still has about 20 feet to get on the concrete ramp. The old road is still good for launching.
Correction: Drove out to Camp Far West yesterday for a quick check. Water is on the bottom of the concrete ramp, but not quite enough to launch. Should be ready in another day or 2. ;D
Glad y'all got enough to at least measure in full inches!! We had like .2" which brings our total to 1.8" on the year. I'm so NOT used to this lol!

I need to visit that lake. It's a far drive for me.
I'll,do the afterbay for sure this spring. Hope I can call you.? (Please). Haha.
Jagged pill to commit to a long trip to not succeed.
Of Course. Just sent you a PM with my phone #
here we go again!!
of course I wanted to go fishing tomorrow..but we are expecting 2" of rain. bring it. I can wait for spring, if Mother Nature fills up a local lake.
Lake Sonoma. I like to fish Yorty Creek, but the water is like 1/4 mile from the ramp. it is a mud bog, so even a kayak is a Herculean effort.
I sure Hope it rains!! We are expecting maybe .3" here which would be awesome!! I'm hoping San Diego gets it too as I start fishing tourneys next month down there.
here it comes. I am sadden I am not on the water this January (yet) but this rain is more important than my personal "at least a bass a month" hopes.
I see the next two weeks with some rain. I am crossing my fingers Lake Sonoma fills up enough that I can launch my kayak at Yorty Creek. I would guess we need another 30 feet. as the earth becomes sodden, my hopes that the run off increases and we see that happen. yorty is magical.
We got around .8-.9" here new years eve and more expected tonight/tomorrow. Saw water running in the street for the first time here lol.
Here in Anderson not a inch yet!
I was s-talking all day. "Pfft, this storm is weak"
Well it came down big time. Power went out at my home for several hours. I went to bed at 8:00pm. It's back.
I just looked. My lake came up 5 feet on about 4 hours. Unbelievable! I hope my fellow Californians are okay. That was one of the best storms of my life her in CA.
Just rained hard on base from 830-1130. Started flooding roads on base. Not sure the overall amount but wowsers for here!
Move a Louisiana man to California and look what happens...
Great to hear you all are getting rain, hate to see the flooding but the lakes and snow pack sure needed it.
"The hits just keep on coming!" We are definitely in a wet weather pattern. Looks like a little break today. Lake Oroville has come up 65 feet, but is still 175 from full! New Melones has come up 20+ feet but still 150 feet down. Clear Lake came up enough for ramps to be used, but still low. The storms have been missing the North state so Shasta has hardly come up. So we can't count our chickens just yet. Folsom Lake came up so fast they are having to dump some water out. Camp Far West is full, cold and muddy. Kate and I went out there for a couple hours last Tuesday and did not get a bite. The Storms have been missing the North so Shasta has hardly come up. I still have not caught a fish in 2023, but that's what I get for being a fair weather fisherman!
It seems like Cali is either in a drought or in a flood with nothing in between. Makes for some needed versatility on the part of an angler though.
I saw something earlier this morning about your situation. They say the name for it is an "atmospheric river".
So I guess you'll all be "river" fishing no matter what body of water you're on.

Seriously though everyone please be safe out there if you're fishing in it.

I think when the weather is boring, the weather people sit around and make up new terms. It use to be "pineapple express", then "atmospheric rivers", now we have "bomb cyclones." All of them are windy and wet!
Hopefully the snow will help Shasta. If I remember right a good snow pack can bring Oroville up a hundred feet in the spring.
Last pictures I seen of Folsom, it was so low you couldn't get on it. Looked like a pond compared to its normal size. So full, is good, but overflow isn't might suck for folks down stream, I hope not.
Stay safe out there, fast rising lakes being a lot of debris with them...
It looked like a lake on the way to work today!! I caught myself dreaming of being on my old boat making my first run of the day...
With the snow pack being so good I sure hope it helps fill the lakes.
these lakes are amazing. most of them are man made and designed to hold rain.
our fishing would be much more limited without them. my local (big) lake is Lake Sonoma. on the north end, there is a launch called Yorty. 100% kayak and float tubes. the road up there is off limits to any trailers. I didnt fish it once in 2022 because the water was like 1000 feet from the ramp. and that ramp is steep!! I pulled my kayak up that once and I thought I was gonna heart attack right there. hahahha. not to mention that last 50 feet at the water's edge was ankle deep muck.
I think the water will be approachable by next weekend!!! the lake is awesome at that end. I have all my fingers crossed.
