Hello Fishing Friends,

I recently got back into bass fishing after more than a dozen years away from fishing, and probably 20+ years away from bassin'. I spent the last 10+ years shooting competitively, until ammunition and components for it went through the roof during COVID. I just started bass fishing again this past March, but my first day back out on El Capitan I managed a new PB of 7.07lb and had so many great days on the water this season that I've jumped back in full bore. Fell in love with a borrowed Dobyn's rod and just 8 months later I'm now 14 rods deep, so I think I may need to also join a 12-step program, lol. Anyway, I'm also a forum nut and happy to find this group of like-minded folks to talk shop and tell stories about this sport we all love!

Hey skidemn. Welcome to the Ultimate Bass family !  Glad to have you with us. Pull up a chair, make yourself right at home and jump in wherever you feel comfortable.

Great looking catches!  I have to tell you there is no 12 step program when it comes to Dobyns Rods - they're like Lay's Potato Chips. You can't have just one.
I'm up to an even dozen myself and my wishlist for other models is probably twice that long.

I'm having trouble posting links at the moment but we have a Dobyns Rods section here on the forums that is chalk full of great information. Gary Dobyns himself stops by occasionally to answer questions and offer his expertise. Have a look around over there when you find a minute.

Lots of great folks here who like to share information and stories and help out whenever possible.

Looking forward to seeing you around the boards and to learning from what you share with us.

In the meantime, if you need any help with anything at all please don't hesitate to contact me or any other staff member.

Once again, Welcome!

Welcome!! Nice to see another socal angler! And WOW you've had a heck of a year catching wise!!!!!

I did see your comment on my other post and Yes I'll def post my results/experience each time. Dobyns rods are very nice- and quite a variety of choices too without getting too $$$.

El Capitan!!! Lots of giants in that one, I'm sure it won't be long before you break the PB again.

Congratulation in returning to the fold, yes it's expensive to get start but those Dobyns or worth the money and will give you years of service. Big Dobyns fan myself. ~c~

Thank you all for the warm welcome! It looks like this season is going to be a bit delayed as I'm having knee replacement surgery next week. That said, I'm hoping to be up and around to hit the spawn and I have a trip to Lake Alamo booked for late April, so I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be good by then. Tight lines my friends!

Ouch!

Sure hope you recover quickly! When does the spawn start down there? I'll be on Lower Otay Sunday so I'll see water temps then.

Don't know how I miss this but welcome to the UltimateBass Family we're glad you're here.  Best wishes on a full recovery from the knee surgery.  Tks for sharing that picture with us also.  Nice looking bunch of bass there  ;)

Heal up quickly, I'm an old left coast head and love reading about the adventures from out west.
