Hi all,
Looking at these 4' bungee dock lines in lieu of standard rope. They come with different ends on them, some being a metal clip (not sure if these would consistently fit around dock cleats) and some having a loop with a sleeve you slide up to tighten the loop slack. Does anybody have any recommendations for these? Thank you.

I use the Dock Stix, but a couple of the guys on here made their own out of bungees and PVC, works the same and cheaper. I paid like $50 for my Dock Stix with military discount...

Thanks. Is there a benefit to the stick over a slack/bungee line with only one side of the boat attached, and what is a good length on them?

I made a pair of docksticks for under $8 each!! There's a thread about them around here somewhere. I really like the docksticks better than the bungee ropes.

Like Lou said, lots of homemade dock stix out there.
You should still always keep a rope in the boat though.
If you put the Dock Stix on correctly, it keeps your boat off the dock. The dependency here is whether your dock cleats line up to allow for proper placement of the stix. It has to be oriented like this / \ or like this \ / if you were looking straight down on your boat and dock. If they are straight, it won't keep the boat off the dock.
I always have a few pieces of rope on the boat 10-25 long in a compartment because rope is just too handy to have on the water...

I really like the bungee cord lines... the loop is great and can be pushed THROUGH the underside of the cleat and brought up/over/around the top to secure the line without wrapping/half-hitch...

Im now looking for a nice rope and bumpers, and anchors. Some companies out there that make nice rope in all colors. Doing alot of this purple for stuff not that it matters. That's the same one that I use too. I just play the wind and current and tie up on the leeward side of the dock. A little planning goes a long way.

You and me Flats. I have the same at-home. With the power poles down these will keep the front of the boat close to the dock and are way easier to store then an 8 ft rope
