Title: Lake Oneida
Post by: FlatsNBay on May 22, 2023, 07:23:58 AM
I've got a fishing trip coming up in a couple of weeks to Lake Oneida. I've never been there before. What can i expect? Is it strictly smallmouth fishing? I can't wait.

Alot of it will be and should be Smallie fishing. Really beautiful lake. Gotta be very careful of shoals, the lake is a lower unit collector. Very similar to the St Lawrence as you can go from 50-100 feet of water to on top of a shoal in a second.

I've been a few times Flats. It's a nice lake.  It can blow up nasty sometimes.
There are quality LM there too, but smallies are prevalent.
Some nice sand flats for smallies and the odd weed bed for LM.
Good luck.
