Title: DX 745 vs 746 Tips?
Post by: PitchnCypress on June 28, 2023, 07:54:12 PM
Hey guys I'm curious how the tips of these two rods compare. I have a couple 746's but have never handled a 745. Is the tip on the 745 as soft or softer than the 746 or is it a completely different action? Thanks

I'd actually like to know myself, as I have a DX744 that I love and want a heavier version for 1/2-3/4oz jigs, but would also use for frogs if I can get double duty out of it.

I fish these three rods quite a bite. The 744 is the softest tip, and 746 gets into the back bone much quicker than all the rods below it.

The way I use them

744 spinnerbaits / chatterbaits
745 large texas rigs - 10" worms larger heavy creature baits
746 Frog and light punching

The 745 has a tad slower tip and the lock up is a few inches deeper into the blank.  It loads up easier thus it works well with plastics and a 1/4 ounce weight. It truly handles a wide weight range over all. It would be a great compliment to your 746's.👍
