Good morning to all,
I'm thinking of upgrading my Crankbait rod. My current Crankbait rod is a BPS Extreme 7ft (M) Fast casting rod. I've been using this rod since 2009 and been looking a the Dobyn's rods recently at Academy.
It will be used for 1/4 - 3/8oz crankbaits.
Yawls thoughts on this?
How deep are you cranking, Don? I don't have any experience with those two rods, but I know with my Kaden 610-4CB, it does great with shallow crankbaits, squarebills, traps, etc, but really deep-divers make me reach for a something a little stiffer. That might play into recommendations.

I throw mostly rattle baits, square bills and shallow diving crankbaits > Bandit Series < Most of the water I fish is 2ft - 20ft deep.
The colt is at a lower price point but I've got to say I've enjoyed all of the ones I have. I also give away 200 of these rods a year and everyone loves them.
Now as to the Colt 705CB, I think it will fit your needs well. If you are ripping those rattle baits out of grass, you'll want to use a non stretch line or a little bit faster action rod. While both 5 powers the Maverick is a little stiffer IMO and would be better suited for grass ripping.
Mike, tks for your input. I went with the Colt 705CB rod. The Maverick Series 705CB rods were sold out. If I find myself fishing heavy grass etc. I'll rig up one of my Fury 734C rods.
