Title: Everglades (Holiday Park) 11/10/23
Post by: Capt. BassinLou on November 10, 2023, 03:22:26 PM
Conditions:
Water Temps: 76-78
Outside Temps: 75-85
Skies: Clear/Partly Cloudy
Winds: East 5-10mph
Water clarity: slight stain
Current: slight from the North
Moon Phase: Waxing Crescent
Fishing Time: 06:30-1:30pm
Fish boated: 36
Top 5: 10lbs Mostly peacock, 1 decent bass.

Decided to change things up and check out the conditions out of Holiday.

Arrived at 0 dark thirty, unloaded, and off I went into the darkness.

My focus today was specific transition areas. With the high water conditions, these specific spots were the only areas I was going to have a chance to catch anything.

Reached my first spot at about sunrise. Fish were busting all over. My challenge was figuring out what they wanted. Tried several lures. Boyo, 1 little peacock. Prop bait: Zero. Swimbait: a couple. Jerkbait, a few. Fluke none.

After a couple of hours, I moved to another spot. Focused my attention on 3 lures. Jerkbait, Swimbait, and fluke.
Caught my first nice peacock around 9am. The fish smoked  my jerkbait as it was coming out of an outflow. A while later, I caught a nice bass to boot.

I kept working the area for a couple of more hours. I decided to change to a fluke and threw it far into a little channel, when it suddenly disappeared inside a huge boil. I reared back and caught a beautiful peacock. Biggest of the outing.

I worked a couple more areas, but they were nothing like like spot #2.

I called the trip at 1:30pm.

All in all, considering the conditions, I managed to put together a productive pattern.

Thanks for reading.
