Title: Everglades (The Marshlands) 11/17/23
Post by: Capt. BassinLou on November 17, 2023, 03:19:21 PM
Conditions:
Water temps: Mid 70's
Outside temps: Mid 70's to lower 80's
Skies: Foggy morning, partly cloudy in the afternoon
Wind: West 8-10mph
Water clarity: Clear
Water level: Flooded!
Moon Phase: Waxing Crescent
Bass boated: 40
Top 5 bag: 11-12lbs
Fishing Time: 0630am-1:30pm

After the intense rains we had the last couple of days. The Marshlands was my only logical location to try.

I arrived at Flat's favorite time, 0 dark thirty. ;) The fog was pretty dense. By the time I set up the boat, I launched closer to 0630.

Wind was light, and it was pretty quiet. I started with a toad, no takers. Changed to an HB frog, nothing. Changed to a swimbait. Nothing. Switched to a spinnerbait and caught the biggest bass of the outing on the very first cast.

Continued with the spinnerbait and caught a few more bass, but nothing remotely close in size to the first bass.

As the morning progressed, I put the spinnerbait down and started to throw the swimbait.
It was a slow start with the swimbait, but then the bites started to rack up.

Spent the rest of the outing catching bass on the swimbait.

As I was wrapping up the outing, I had the boat and gear  ready to load on my truck when I made one last glance at the water. There at the waters edge were four bass, just hanging out. I reached for my swimbait rod and proceeded to catch 8 more bass from the bank!! Lol!!

All in all, it was a fun, productive outing.

Sounds like a productive outing especially with all the rain that probably sent the bass further back from the canals on the Alley. Good job.
