Title: Newport or Torqueedo question.
Post by: Hobious on December 15, 2023, 07:42:17 AM
anyone running a Newport motor or Torqueedo on their kayaks?

what do you do with the motor up/down pull cords when you take the motor off the kayak?  there is a carabiner or knob on the each end, so you can't remove it entirely.  I can see that going everywhere in the back of my truck going 65mph.

tactics or logistical help?  I might try to come up with a strategy to allow me to take off everything and stow it all in the truck.

I haven't seen either one in person, but on the Newport, it looks like the cables connect to a ring, which goes through that upright piece. Could the ring be swapped out for a split ring? If so, you might could take the cables completely off and stow them.

Like I said, I've never seen one in person, so I may be way out in left field here.

i think i have it.  lines go thru an uninteruppted ring on the motor mount.  so there is no full removal.

one more piece of the puzzle and i will put it together this week.

Let us know how it goes. The only motor like those I've ever seen in person was one of the bigger styles of Torqeedos. Mounted on a pontoon boat of all things.
