I always carry a knife. Well not if I fly somewhere w carry-on bags.
A few weeks ago I was walking to my truck. I see heavy line dangling from my truck. I peek under, and it's wrapped around things that move and spin. Grrrrr!
I slid under and start cutting it loose. My knives are razors so the "plink plink plink" of it popping thru the strands was kinda nice. I reach up to pull some line down and moved my hand right into the point of my knife. It slipped in w zero resistance. I paused and pulled it from my meaty hand. There was a solid moment when I thought I wouldn't bleed. Nope! I cuss and close my knife up, and using my good paw, finish the removal. I applied pressure to the wound w my middle finger of same hand.
My office lady helped wrap it up. It was deep and could use a stitch but I butterfly stitched it instead. It weeped a full day.
I wish people would dispose of line properly. Every boat ramp has a bin dedicated for fishing line. And I need to practice knife awareness. :). It's finally starting to feel normal and pain free.
When you least expect it, shit happens! ~rant
Yep. Have stabbed and cut myself more times than I care to admit. And always feel a bit dumb after doing so.
And I was crying from getting fin spiked from a fish this week. Man, that's gotta hurt!
Damn, that was a hard read! Fast healing!!
Ouch! :'( Wrapped up fishing line shows up when you least expect it, and it will damage things really quick.
i had to ask the office lady, "do you freak out at the sight of blood?".
she said, "no, my husband is always trying to cut something off of himself".
hahhaha..i still need to buy her a slice of cake or something.
Finding extra fishin' line and hurting myself is a regular part of my program...
I here stories about guys dragging line behind their boats on the way home from the lake, with their reels in free spool. Say it ain't so...!

I seent it! Seent it with my own eyes!
Then there was the time my wife and I were fishing next to a bridge and she somehow managed to snag a passing car.
Ouch! I agree about the fishing line. Pet peeve of mine is people discarding it wherever they want.
This is me yesterday-

I don't hardly ever knap rock any more, but I was on the creek yesterday looking for arrowhead stuff (something else I rarely do any more) and came across a beautiful old chert core. I decided I'd whack a few pieces off to try work down. I cut myself just picking one of them up, and then sliced my hand in three more places just carrying them to the truck. Never happened before...
If I don't bleed at least once a day then I did something really, horribly RIGHT.
