Title: any changes since the ownership swap?
Post by: Hobious on December 13, 2024, 11:41:42 AM
I still look at the DX744 on occasion.

just wondering.  I have moved away from Dobyns, but that 744 is nice.

I like that I can go on the website, place my order and in a few days my order arrives. Before I needed to call and speak to one of the staff to place my orders. Speaking to the staff was always pleasant, but if it was after hours, or the wknd I had to wait on the next business day.

Everything is still the same. You can call or order online. Somethings changed with staff but the Dobyns rods are still the same, the warranty is still the same, and if you call you'll still get great customer service. If you don't please post on the forum so I can let the big guy know...

They have a pretty good sale going on their web page.  Weigh-in bags and neoprene rod sleeves are half price. Look unter the "Specials" tab. I just made an order.  There is a note that says because of warehouse reorganization, orders won't start shipping until Jan 6.

From what everyone is saying on the FB page, Sulphur Springs was closed and everyone was laid off.  All new shipments coming from the GSM facility in Irving, TX.

Just got a new Sierra this week from TW and it feels identical to my others. Love the feel and castibility of these reels.

I called today and got the Sulphur Springs office. I'm not sure how long it will be open. He was very helpful and while limited in what he can do, he found the answers for me.

SS closed end of Jan I think.  I called this week (Irving) to ask about DRX 756 availability, and the lady I got didn't know anything about fishing, Dobyns, nor of course could not answer any avaialability questions.  Really sad.   ^-^
