Title: Quick Replica Question
Post by: J.W. on March 08, 2025, 11:41:27 AM
My son is fishing a tournament right now on Millwood and just caught a 10.44 by his scale. Arkansas Game and Fish is gonna take it to do genetic testing on it at weigh-in.

I want to get him a replica made.

When I measure the fish's girth, do I just measure around the fattest part of the fish?

Also, on length, is it a bump-board type length measurement or do I use a flexible tape that follows the contour of the fish?

Always take as many measurements as possible, photos too, the replica agency will never turn away data.

I keep a flexible tape in the boat. Girth has a specific spot, but I recommend the widest spot.

Thanks Mike. Levi's fish ended up being 10.56 lbs with a length of 24 1/4" and girth of 18". I think the boy is still in shock 😂

They both fished hard and were really just trying not to zero. Conditions were tough with 20 mph winds, rain, and hail. Practice had been extremely tough and unproductive.

I didn't boat them on this one, and when I got the call that they had a 10+ in the box, I thought they were yanking my chain.

I told him he better say some "thank you" prayers for that fish and for their tournament outcome, because I saw how that lake was fishing and that was nothing but the Lord.

He did. They give a belt for big bass and it changes hands whenever someone beats the current big bass for the trail. He has one more tournament left, so if someone tops that one at the next one he has to hand it over.  lo
