Title: Gas Tank leaks
Post by: weirdlittleman on July 25, 2006, 07:10:16 PM
I read this today if you have a small leek in your gas tank you can take ivory bar soap and put on the leek and it will seal it up  till you can get it fixed right

I think a self tappin screw with some tread lock on it would be better. Don't think the soap would do your carberator or engine a whole lot of good.

Actually the tip works.  Being a diesel mechanic for over 10 years, I thought I had seen it all...I have seen sticks, tree limbs, J-B Weld, Tire patches, you name it.  I have seen it all jabbed into fuel tanks to keep them from leaking.  The Ivory soap is a good idea because it comforms to the hole and seals it off... ;)
