Title: US Anglers Choice
Post by: TomG on October 10, 2006, 08:11:38 PM
Stan, there will be Pacific region next year.  The only reason the schedule isn't up yet is because they are still working with DFG for permits and other issues.

Well that's good.  Your still wanting to do the Central Coast region right?

Tom, you better take a look at the Central Coast division one more time.  Looks like 5 Cachuma tournaments and 2 at Lopez.  Starts in January.

I can't make the January tournament if its on the 21 that's a Sunday and I leave Monday morning for a TDY.  I e-mailed Jim to make sure its is on the Sunday the 21st and not on the Saturday the 20th.  If it was on the Saturday and we took your boat I could fish it that way I wouldn't have anything to take care of as far as boat stuff goes before the TDY.  I would really like to fish that one.  I updated our Schedule with the new changes from central coast let me know how this looks.

17 March / Lopez                   Central coast
21 April / Margarita                 Pacific
13 May / Cachuma                  Pacific
19 May / Cachuma                 Central
17 June / Cachuma                 Central
07 July / Cachuma                  Central

This would give us 7 tournaments total and don't forget Central coast has an "Off Limits" and Pacific does not.

The Jan Cachuma tournament is on the Sunday the 21st so I won't be able to do that.  I say we fish the schedule in the above post, let me know.

Works for me!  I'll just prefish Lopez for GC.

Stan, I took the second Lopez tournament off the schedule that way I am not paying entry fees for three tournaments in one month.  This still leaves us with 6 and we only need 5 anyway for the TOC end of year tournament.

Stan what do you think March 17th Lopez / central coast (no pre-fishing)

or

March 24th Margarita / Pacific Coast (pre-fishing allowed)

Let me know what you think so we can discuss and formulate a plan for pre-fishing.

Whichever is fine with me.  Just let  me know which you'd like.

Well which one would you rather fish?

Which one do you think we would have a better shot at winning is the big question?

I kind of feel like we would have a better shot at Margarita only because I have never really fished Lopez during the spawn or that close to the spawn.  We both have good techniques at margarita with senko areas and flipping jigs, creatures should do well at that time also, along with some reaction baits.

I don't have alot of experince with Lopez in March either.  But the fishing at Margarita has been wide open for a few weeks now, so it may be a tough bite with as many guys that have or plan on going up there in the next few weeks.  Alot of pressure on that lake right now.  So I don't really know which lake we should fish.  Let's just commit to one and pre fish.  With all that said, I'm still leaning toward Margarita.  How 'bout you?

So am I.  I think we would have better shot at Margarita......so that's my vote.

I am available to start pre-fishing next Saturday the 10th of March.  If you want we can take my boat for the first practice day and then yours the following weekend and then use mine for the tournament since we had said my boat for the first one.  Let me know what sounds good for you or if you want to change things around.

Someone said  29lbs took 1st place , 24lbs 2nd , and third was 22lbs at Margarita this past weekend for 100% BASS.  In that bag was at least an 8lb I think.

Stan,

According to their website, its $175.00 per team, $45.00 each for membership and for options it says see tournament director.  So I guess bring an extra $15.00 each for big bass.  I would assume if its 30.00 or 40.00 that would be as a team and not individually.

Looks like about $150 for the first time including big bass.  Sure would be nice to get that money back the first time out!

Stan, I e-mailed the tournament director about big bass and show times here is what he had to say:

TOM  I'LL BE AT THE GATE AT ABOUT 4 AM THE LAKE WILL OPEN AT ABOUT 6AM  WE'LL GO OUT OF WHITE OAK.  TOURNAMENT BIG BASS IS IN THE BASIC ENTRY.  I ALSO HAVE TWO BIG BASS OPTIONS ONE PAYS THE TOP 3 BIG BASS.  50% 30% 20% SPLIT IN THAT OPTION THAT OPTION IS $20. . THE OTHER OPTION IS $25. AND IS A WINNER TAKE ALL.  JIM

So how much do I need to bring?

Tom if we fish AC it will have to be at Lopez on 21 apr with the pacific division.  The central coast division is fishing Lopez on the 28th but we have a GC tourney at margarita the same day.  What do you think?

I know I just looked at the schedule last night.  Originally they had Margarita scheduled for the 21st which I thought we could fish and it would help us for Gold Coast.  But since they are sceduled for Lopez on the 21st I think we should skip Anglers Choice for April and fish with them in May.  I think May is Cachuma the same as Gold Coast so the practicing and pre-fishing and tournament will help us with Gold Coast.  What are your thoughts on the situation?

That's fine with me, but we better fish at least 1 AC to get our $45 dues worth.

That won't be a problem, central coast trail is at Cachuma in May, June, and July and I am good for those.

I just hate to fish Lopez this month without being able to practice much since the tournament is in two weeks.
