Hey Top, the rule of thumb is use same diameter braid as you would normaly use in mono.  T-rig I normally use 40lb power pro.

I tried using 30 lb Power pro and it did not hold up very well or very long using a t-rig.  Some else told me the same thing Shawn is saying, use the same diameter as you normally would in mono or fluro.  I am moving up to 40 on my t-rig now too.

Don't have any Power Pro on my Texas rig. But I do use it on my jig rod. I use 50 lb. But I am still in the experimental stage.

What brand of Fluorocarbon were you using?

That was my first question.....

I t-rig fish with 12 pound Big Game using a heavy action Kistler Rod and man I very, rarely break off.

What knot?

I use 30lb (8lb diameter) power pro with a 6' 8lb Stren leader on most of my rigs including texas rigging in lighter cover. It works fine.

For punching through weed mats and heavy cover I'll just take off the mono leader and use the 30lb power pro tied directly to the hook...I've had no break-offs either way but the straight braid is great when you have to horse around 3lbs of bass and 10lbs of weeds.

I've just started using 50lb power pro (same as 12lb fluro) on a baitcaster and it works great.

I also use 12lb power pro on a spinning reel with no problems.

Should have mentioned that I also use 20 lb P-line on a heavy action rod when using texas rigged worms/creatures in scattered weeds and cover with good success.  15 lb P-line was too light and I broke some fish off, been trying the 20 lb P-line and so far so good.  I don't care for the memory in the 20 lb, but have stretched the line and spray some Reel Magic on it.

This is what I use for my baitcasters as well...

I will be changing out my flipping stick to a higher rating...

I have tried braid on my T-rigs several times and lose a lot of bites and the size of those bites went way down.

I use 14 pound stren original and I have been catching some big bass in the last year, and can only remember breaking my line on a fish once or twice, and I think that those situations were user error.  Not redoing my not, and the line above the not after catching four or five fish, and once I feel that I accidently tied my not incorrectly.  But I have been thinking of going to braid, but I have zero problem with the line that I am fishing and as I said I have landed some huge fish on that line this year.  So I think I will stick with what I am more familiar with.

What do you contribute that loss of bites to.......

That could very well be what everyone refers to as a confidence issue.

I use 15lb Stealth on my T-Rig rod and love it.  I'm really not too fond of the power pro though I do have it on a couple of my reels.  I also use YoZuri hubrid quite a bit and really like it too.  I never understand some peoples issues with breakoffs since I rarely have that problem and when I do it's generally from not keeping up with my knots like I should.  Most of my rods have 15lb or less line with at least 1/2 of them with 12lb Stren Heavy Cover and no breakoff issues from line failure...if you're breaking off that much you might want to check your drag...

Depending on where I'm fishing, there are 2 lines that I really like a lot for texas rigging.  The first is Yozuri Hybrid line in 12-15#...depending on where I'm at and what kind of cover I'm fishing and how big the fish are that I plan on catching.  The 2nd line I use a lot of is the PLine Floroclear.  I would not recommend anything under 15# for t-rigs with this line though.  I used the 12# a few times and it did give me some problems with break-offs, etc.  I haven't had hardly any problems with the 15# though...and it's virtually invisible underwater.

Both of these 2 lines have been very reliable for me and I highly recommend them..

The only thing I could think of would be the visibility of the line. It was a sharp drop off each time I tried it but I rarely fish muddy water.
