After much discussion we have decided on a location for the 2008 UBCS.
TOLEDO BEND
The date is TBA. I think everyone will be excited about the date. We just have to check on a few Large tournaments before we set it.
Excellent. ~c~ ~c~ ~c~ ~c~ ~c~
Y'all make decisions about like y'all fish. lo You couldn't come up with a new place. I mean, you have already gotten your butts whipped once there. ~roflmao

Well, we like to keep things on fair playing field. You know we listen to others and their concerns and we make honest fair decisions to keep things close and to have great turnouts. That's just the kind of guys we are. lo
Plus we like having the tournament on a lake you hate, it gives us a warm fuzzy feeling. :roll2:

Rattle are you going to host it from the same location? Mike might bitch but we had fun down their last time even if Mike made me bust one of my rods and he let the other fall off the back of the boat :bang lo

Mike WILL bitch because they pick such horrible locations...what about Sam Rayburn. lo
Hey...you could have gone swimming for that rod. ~roflmao
Everyone that I have talked to or over heard talking from our club liked Toledo. Besides if Noble doesnt like something it usually means everyone else loves it. ;)
DO you need a TX and/or LA licence to fish here?

Who did you talk to...Papa? What does he know, he likes Caddo. lo Both of those are just a waste of good farm land.
Maybe we will have a drought before then and there won't be any water. ~roflmao
Thanks
It will be held out of South Toledo Bend State Park. I just called up there and they have plenty of cabins available for the two dates we are looking at. I'm trying to get some info on some of the big tournaments they have at that time of the year but nothing is posted. The oilmens tournaments are really the ones I'm concerned with. There are three different oilmen tournaments at that time of the year and it's roll of the dice as to when they are going to have them.

Not likely. The water level is over 171 as we speak. I can't remember a time that Toledo Bend had a full pool in the summer. Last year they didn't drop the lake during the spawn like they usually do and from what I'm hearing from the Wildlife and Fisheries they had the best spawn that lake has seen in years. I don't think we seen the water get below 169 this year and they just signed a new contract that stated they would stop generating at 168. Sorry Mike no chances of low water conditions. How on earth do you justify your terrible lake theory when we had the most fish and the best weights for a UBCS come from Toledo Bend and that was on a bad weekend where cold front had screwed things up. You could only dream of catching nice stringers like that in one those holes yall call lakes. lo
But Rattle didn't everyone kill them on Bistineau ~roflmao ~roflmao ~roflmao

That will have to be a bad drought to get rid of all that water. Toledo ought to be overflowing right now with all this rain.
Mark it down July 6, 2007 Brushhawg called his shot and said the Yankees will go down on the Bend next year. This poo poo ain't happening no more. Lockjaw will be victorious in 08. Even if we have to pull some plugs before blastoff. I'm not kidding, well kind of, but we will win this thing. Put it on the boards. Yes.

Fish a lake once all year and get surprised at the low numbers and weights :-\ Heck the only reason we fished it at all is because the shoot out was being held there. ~xyz
Kinda like me bitching about Caddo, only time I'm on the water is if the club is fishing a tourney 8)
I finally figured out how TCTC is winning all the tournaments. Here they are caught on film :

Alright, one cabin rented, now if everyone else gets on the ball we can all get the cabins close to one another.
Jared you can mark it down unless something physically happens to me I will be there next year. It made me f-ing sick to miss it this year. It won't happen again, LOCKJAW!!!!
Mike, I sure hope you can make it. The more LockJaw the better. lo
I made a Thread for the cabins.
I was trying to remember what cabins we had that year so we can try and all be close together. cant wait....

I'm not pissed about it "not" being anywhere...just thought it would be good to go somewhere new. Thought the LockJaw club would want to try another lake so maybe they could win one...already proved we can whip their butts on the Bend. ~roflmao
Most the people in your club wanted on the bend. We are all about pleasing, that's why we let yall win every year. In all seriousness the Bend just draws more people. Probably because it is the best lake in this state.

See, this all just confuses me. And I know I usually live in the state of confusion, but this does not make sense. If it is the best lake in Louisiana, as you say, and as several of the TCTC members proclaim...then why are there not fishing report after fishing report after fishing report from there. If it is the best lake in the state, then why are members of the TCTC not fishing it every weekend and filing reports constantly. I know we have a few folks, none that I know of in the TCTC, that do go fish the Bend and file very good reports. But the Bend is not even in the same ballpark, as far as fishing reports go, as other lakes in the state.
And personally I could care less where the tournament is. I'll either be there or not, depending on work. I just thought it was a good opportunity to visit other lakes, since we do have to travel already. But if y'all want to get put down on the Bend again...bring it on. At least the camp sites were nice. ;D
And as far as your comment..."that is why we let y'all win every year". You know, you should not tell lies. lo And the TCTC can whip y'alls butts on any lake. ~roflmao
Look Mike, I can't hold back any longer. There is no reason to post a fishing report for Toledo Bend. Everybody already knows the fish are biting there and it is the best lake around, so why report on the obvious. :roll2:
I'm sure glad to see that you are living in a dream world...looking thru "bass" colored glasses. ~roflmao
Ok, I know a Texas license will work to fish the Bend, but scince we are staying an the La. side does anybody know if we will need an La. license?
Your Texas license will be okay. But Louisiana could use the revenue so if you want to buy a new one.... lo
I need the revenue too!! lo lo I had just always heard that Texas license was fine as long as you launched from Texas and returned there. I just Dont want to give the state of La. any more of my money than I have too!!!! ;)
Hey Shawn, how can you be so rich and yet so cheap???? :roll2:
Give LA some $$$$$$$, they need it.

Face it Mike they are not going to fill TB up with sand. ~roflmao ~roflmao
Toledo Bend lake level as of 02-26-2008 - 171.17. For those that fished the UBCS 2 years ago and you have never been on Toledo Bend since then you are going to freak. It is going to look completely different. Papa the water is now in the bushes. ;D
I fished it a couple weeks ago and it's a completely different animal. Hope the water level stays up!!
Just out of curiousity, anyone remember what the level was 2 years ago at the last shootout that was there?

It was 166' in March '06 according to TX SRA (http://www.sratx.org/basin/toledo_bend_monthly.asp). Which sounds about right. I remember it being around 5-7 ft low.
This thread (http://www.ultimatebass.com/bass-fishing-forum/index.php?topic=11008.msg235018#msg235018) confirms it.

By boat it would be a good run but weather would be a big factor. If I was fishing 1215 I would trailer. ;D
