Title: Grubfishr01 Resume Chop
Post by: Swede on March 13, 2008, 03:25:29 PM
Colby -
Good start - recommend working with it regularly to strengthen. A couple of recommendations:
1) Up top I'd change this information to reflect contact info. Most important words in a resume are your name. Your contact info is right up there in importance with your name.
The rest of the information you had up top is nice to know information - and I'd work it into follow-on resume' information.
Home Lake : Smith Mountain Lake Home River : Roanoke River , New River, and James River Age: 22
2) You start many of your sentences with the word "I". I'd change things up a little there.
3) You have worked in the information here that I'd remove from up top, but I would move the first sentence elsewhere since it doesn't really fit the subject of this paragraph. Spell check everything - mispelled words and improper grammar are big killers of resumes.
My home lake is Smith Mountain Lake, but I also enjoy fishing the Roanoke, James, and New Rivers. Although my current status is amateur, my fishing abilities and knowledge of the fishing industry are improving every day. A desire to succeed and a love for bass fishing are things I have an in abundance. I'd love to help expose new customers to your company's products. Contact me via the information provided above.
4) remove "Resume" - assume the potential sponsor can figure out that this is a resume'.
Like I said - good start. Keep working on it - these things take time to get just right. You've taken the initiative and started your resume - that is the biggest step in the process. Will be glad to review any follow-on products.
