Title: Adding Coffee grounds to bags of plastic
Post by: Baron49 on July 16, 2008, 08:03:38 AM
I posted this under the thread for Coffee and no one replied so I will ask it here.

Question for all you plastic pourers?

....would adding some coffee grounds to a bag of plastics like tubes actually transfer some of the scent?

I would think that it would.. but it may also change the color of the plastic and make it dull....

Making the color more dull would not be a problem if it actually worked, but what about the coffee mixing with the scent already in the baits like tubes?

I have seen this question pop up a few times.  Just for the heck of it, I think I will try and add some grounds to a bag of tubes and run some type of comparison to see what happens.   ~gf

Most of the scents added to a batch of plastics are in a oil form. Therefore, I think the coffee will mix with the oil and create a slightly different scent.

I did not think about that...you are right as all the tubes I use have some kind of oily finish.  I was not concerned about them getting off color with the coffee grounds but did nto think about the mixing of scents.  Good point..Thanks

Why not just buy the strike king coffee tubes? Already done and they work great.

Because I have about 25 lbs of various size and types of tubes already.   ;D

I think adding coffee grounds the already coffee tubes with the oilly finish wouldn't the coffee grains stick and put off a stronger scent. I think it would. :-*
