Title: St. Croix Rod. Is this worth the $$$
Post by: aaronis on July 30, 2008, 08:23:52 AM
I know of a person who is selling a St. Croix tournament rod.  He is asking $75 OBO  He says the only problems is the cork is a little chipped on the corner, and one of the eye inserts is missing.  Don't know yet if this is spinning or casting or what action.  How much should I offer?

Well find out the details on the rod and offer him $50.
You can fix the cork and guide for minimal $.
Yes, a $50 St. Croix is worth it!
I paid $200 for mine! :(

If you have a local rod builder, he can replace the guide for about $10...or possibly less.  The cork can be repaired with some oak colored, wood putty, then sanded flush to the existing cork.  $50 would be a GREAT deal but I believe that even $75 would be a good deal on this rod.

Good luck.......George

St. Criox Legends and Avids are great rods and I have paid any where from $149 on sale to over $260 for an 8' Flipping stick I just had to have.  Always try for a lower price, but the $75 is reasonable.

i agree with everyone else....both 50 and 75 sound like pretty good deals to me....which reminds me that i still need to get a guider replaced on one of my legend tourney's

Thanks guys.  Bought it for $60 straight up!  Took it straight in for the minor repair.  Can't wait to use it.
