Post by: berkley on October 03, 2008, 09:20:47 AM
Heard some reports of Smallmouth being in Banner Lake, is this true?   Anyone have any luck catching any?

I've never fished Banner...but on the KDWP site, they have mentioned in the past they're in there...(smallmouths)

I fish there quite often and have only caught one. It was a keeper though. 17.5 inches. Its so filled with largemouth that you have to be lucky to get your bait to a smallie!

They have a decent rating in the forecast. I bet they exist like they do in Big Hill: you won't catch very many of them, but you will happen upon one once in a while when you are largemouth fishing and it will be a good one.

I think they're not as prevalent as the largies...that's true...but I wonder:  the approach to catching them is probably not quite the same as for largemouth...

If you fish for smallmouth in Big Hill you can catch them any day you want.  Really have a good smallmouth population in there.

Wow, you need to let me in on some secrets.  :)  I fish it quite often and have gotten into the smallies a few times and pick one up now and then but definately not any day I want.

I dont get down there to much anymore. Going to try to make a point to spend some time on there though this year. I'll try to keep you in the loop if I make it down.
