Post by: Fryguy on December 05, 2008, 02:37:02 PM

Objective: To be able to represent and promote companies that are directly or indirectly involved in the sport of bass fishing. While representing those companies I will be able to help promote their products and educate consumers who have never heard of or seen them in action and will give them firsthand knowledge of their effectiveness.
Personal: I currently reside in Glendale Heights IL just outside of Chicago. I have been fishing sine I was 4 years old. I started bass fishing when I was stationed in Georgia while in the Marine Corps. Since then I have been fishing competitively since 2003. I started fishing in the American Bass Anglers Association as a non boater. In 2006 I made the move to the Wal-Mart BFL tournaments in Kentucky and in 2007 I moved to the Boater side. I now fish the Wal-Mart BFL's in Kentucky. I also fish local tournaments in and around the Chicago area. I also fish Big Buck's Bass tournaments and I have helped form a website Fishthenation.com. In 2009 our website FTN will be starting our own bass tournament trail.
Affiliations: Shawnee Bay Resort, Kentucky Lake KY Chicagolandfishing.com Fishthenation.com Ultimatebass.com Action Marine, Burlington WI
Exposure: Due to the fact that I travel over 400 miles to fish a tournament I am exposed to hundreds of motorists on the roadway that see my truck and boat. The Wal-Mart BFL tournaments are 200 boat tournaments with 400 total anglers fishing. The weigh-ins to those tournaments bring in a crowd of a couple hundred viewers. I am a member of several different fishing wed sites were I post tips and results of my fishing adventures. I also live in a highly populated area in which numerous people see my tow vehicle on a daily basis. I volunteer at a large Ranger Dealer open house to represent one of my sponsors, Shawnee Bay Resort, and help get people interested in traveling to Kentucky and staying at that resort. It also gives me the opportunity to talk to the public about fishing.

This looks pretty good! I do see a couple spelling errors so you need to run a spell check on it again.
This is a run on.... I also fish.... I also fish... try to break this up a bit
"I now fish the Wal-Mart BFL's in Kentucky. I also fish local tournaments in and around the Chicago area. I also fish Big Buck's Bass tournaments and I have helped form a website Fishthenation.com. In 2009 our website FTN will be starting our own bass tournament trail. "
Try to explain what this website of your is or does? Kind of leaves the reader hanging, your going to start a trail with it but what does it do now? What will it do?
Your exposure section looks pretty good. I like the mileage coverage. Get with FLW they will know the numbers of spectators at their events and you can average it out or they may give you an average. Solid numbers are better. Also FLW may be able to tell you what your mileage is worth in terms of advertising Views. I know B.A.S.S. has a formula for this, I just haven't got my hands on it yet.

Thanks for the input. I will contact FLW on that mileage thing. This is the rough draft and I am working on fixing that "I also" problem. I wasn't sure how detailed I should get with the website. I was trying to keep it short because I know it will only get looked at for a short period of time once I send it to the companies I am looking at.

Maybe look into working with this part a bit more. Should flow while reading and cover total annual miles/impact numbers/spectator views and the like. Siggy in the bottom of each post where? And why there? I.E. number of members number of guest, number of page views :-*
Also you say in Feb you volunteer for a dealer was this a one time thing or do you do it every year and if so how long and how many people come to the open house.

Does this flow better and do you think I should break it up in these smaller paragraphs?
Due to the fact that I travel over 400 miles one way to fish a tournament I am exposed to hundreds of motorists on the roadway that see my truck and boat. I make that trip 5 times a year. That is over 4500 miles just to those 5 tournaments.
The Wal-Mart BFL tournaments are 200 boat tournaments with 400 total anglers fishing. The weigh-ins to those tournaments bring in a crowd of a couple hundred viewers. I also live in a highly populated area in which numerous people see my tow vehicle on a daily basis.
Being a member of several different fishing wed sites I'm able post tips and results of my fishing adventures and include my sponsors in my signature on the bottom of each post. Currently our website is view 1100 times a day not including our current members. As of Dec 10th 2008 our active members has grow to 170.
In February I volunteer at a large Ranger Dealer open house to represent one of my sponsors, Shawnee Bay Resort, and help get people interested in traveling to Kentucky and staying at that resort. Last year the dealer had Jimmy Huston as their speaker and we even got him interested in doing a fishing show out of Shawnee Bay Resort. That show lasts for 3 days. Working that show gives me the opportunity to talk to the public about fishing.

Mind you these are just suggestions, we all have our own way of writing. I'm long winded at the key board and am far from perfect in most anything.
Each year I drive XXX miles with my tow vehicle providing exposure as a moving billboard to thousands of potential customers daily. I also fish the XX tournament/trail and travel over 800 miles round trip 5 times a year to attend those events. As a participant in the Wal-Mart BFL (opens/circit/district) as one of the 200 boaters with and additional 200 co-anglers I set my self apart by???. Durring the weigh-ins at those tournaments while on stage in front of a crowd of a hundreds your logo/product will be the focal point of my time on stage.
Being a well know and respected member of several different fishing web sites such as (list them so they can check you out) I'm able post tips, fishing reports, tournament results and include my sponsors in my signature on the bottom of each post. Currently I have a total of???? posts on those 1/2/3/4/ websites with a viewership of XXXX amount of members and guests.
Each February I volunteer at the XXX Ranger Dealer open house here in (location) representing Shawnee Bay Resort. Our focus is to help foster interest in traveling to Kentucky and staying at Shawnee Bay. Last year Jimmy Huston was the guest speaker and convinced him to do a fishing show out of Shawnee Bay Resort. The filming of the show lasted 3 days and gives me the opportunity to talk to a larger public about bass fishing and (the product you are after).

I like it, two things though....
First one is you need to remove the word "by" or change the way it's written just a bit.
Each year I drive over 5000 miles with my tow vehicle providing exposure as a moving billboard to thousands of potential customers daily. As a participant in the Wal-Mart BFL LBL division I set my self apart by due to the fact that nearly 80% of the 200 boat field are local anglers. During the weigh-ins at those tournaments while on stage in front of a crowd of a hundreds your logo/product will be the focal point of my time on stage.
Second is you stated that you would be the director of the Fishthenation.com tournaments twice. See if you can take one of those statements out or word it different so it doesn't sound redundant.
Then do a real good spelling and grammer check (I didn't see anything with my quick read) and you look good to me ~c~

These resumes are never done. They require constant updating and improvement.

I'd remove the first sentence - it's dead weight as you tell us where you are from above.
My dad introduced me to fishing........
I started fishing competitively in 2003 with the American...............
In 2006, I transitioned to FLW Outdoors' BFL tournaments in Kentucky and fish as a boater. (Wal-Mart is FLW sponsor if I remember correctly)
I recently helped start the website FishtheNation (www.FishtheNation.com) dedicated to ................
Memberships have grown............
.......acting tournament director
You mention "we" will be starting this tournament trail - we do not know who "we" is so I would just talk about you or you will be assisting in the start
As Fogy has mentioned - we all have our own writing styles - many ways to cut an onion. I took a chop on this one "Personal" paragraph. Use what you would like and good luck out there!! ~c~
