But if trailering is allowed I will be glad to run down earlier with any of the TCTC guys and do a little pre-fishing up NORTH ~sun

Well,I was being a little bit of a wise ass but theres quite a bit of water north.
Fogy it is north of the center of the lake but like Chris said there is a bunch of water north of the State park, probably 40,000 acre of water. I have never ran that but if Russ is going where I think he is I just hope trailering is allowed cause it is a long run.
Where we are camping is considered North Toledo Bend but really it is mid lake more than North. We are just starting to get North where we are at. I hope yall are running way North. It will be nice to beat yall and have yall waste all that gas. ~roflmao
Thanks Chris and Papa. All my fault here but the only times I've fished the Bend has been for shootouts :embarassed:
In any case I'm sure trailering will be allowed; we have been able to do each time on the bend in the past. :-*
I was running 20 mi last year to my farthest spot. This year I think it will only be 15 but just depends on what the water temps are and what stage the spwn is in. ~gf
Shawn thats right ....Im hoping it isnt too late for San Miguel at that point. Its where I grew up and where I want to be during the Shootout ..I will be extremely disappointed if we have to fish further south.
Chris with this crazy cold weather we are having this year who knows. I running north last year to find fish that were far enough post spawn that they would cooperate. But I really hope to be able to find some prespawn fish this year. I found some good postspawn fish in negreet last year sitting on a channel bend off a point but the were just not biting well and Crash hasn't learned the patience yet to fish for just five good bites. ;)

Papa knows where I'm headed and for good reason :-* I've got tourney's down there every month from Feb to May, so hopefully I'll be able to stay on those fish.
I hope to have my new boat very soon, working on some details this week with it.
As for the fish, last year they were pre-spawn the first of March or just starting to move onto the beds. Since it will only be 3 weeks later, it should be in full swing.
Even if trailering wasn't allowed, I'd still make the run on Saturday. My tourney the 28th of Feb will tell the story. ;)
Last year the only fish I saw still on beds were in the vey south end of the lake.
I was fishing js south of the pendleton bridge an all my fish were post spawn.
But this could change with the cold weather we are having this year.
The north end is cooler than the south end, so hopefully it will stay off the fish for a couple of weeks. I was still catching fish on beds up there in April last year, when I was helping the Top Six guys do some prefishing.
But it doesn't matter anyways, Lockjaws are the weeners I mean winners of the fishing gods. >:D ~roflmao ~beer~

The North end of the lake produces better fish hands down. Our best tournaments come from up North. We fish the south end more than the north simply because it is closer for us. The team leading last year fished north on saturday but because of time constraints on Sunday they opted for the south and it cost them. I fished midlake on Saturday and Susie lost a hawg first thing that morning. My spot didn't pan out and I ended up with some small fish in the last hour of the day. Sunday I went to Six mile where I was on fish about week before but as usual the wind was blowing 3 footers over that spot. I ended up fishing a hole on the Louisiana side and we boated 4 good fish in about 15 minutes and we ran out of time. I have some good spots up north and if the fish cooperate it's going to be interesting. The way my luck has gone in these UBCS tournaments some kind of dumb crap like a late season cold front will come in and screw it all up. The major spawn up North will be over and done with by the time we fish. They do spawn into April up there but the big spawn will be over. I almost prefer it that way.

Hey Russ How far north are some of these tourney's, if the water is up and you are anywhere close to Circle drive let me know ~gf
Papa, most of them will be between Sam Meigel to Jolly Rodgers. Trailering will be allowed for all of them I believe.
Once I get the "no boat" problem worked out I'll hit you up, if nothing else just to go do some fishing. I make think about that area for the Top Six tourney in May.

I told Laurie that I would bring the trophy so yall can look at it and visit with it. Besides it will be good to move it so I can dust off the shelf so it will have a clean area for when it comes back Sunday.

It shouldn't be a problem finding a space for that 5x7 picture you will take of the trophy. You right it's going North, to North Toledo Bend State Park, then it coming right back to it's Southern home in Kinder.
