Title: Prop Pitch
Post by: djbird420 on January 01, 2009, 07:27:16 PM
I have a '95 160TF with a '96 Force 75 h.p.
I have a GREAT hole shot but my top end is 37-39 mph(GPS).
I have no need for any more speed but I read about 640's hitting
45 with a 60 h.p. The motor starts easy and runs great.
At W.O.T. I run about 5250 rpm's.
I would like to cruise about 33-35 mph at under 5000 rpm's.
Any suggestions?(I don't mind giving up some on the hole shot)
Thank's in advance.
Happy New Year!!!

I had a 1999 640 with a 75 force ran 43 to 45 on a great day most times it was 39/40 mph and I had a 23 pitch SS but don't remember the diameter.

I had a 640 with a 90 Mercury ELPTO that would only run 52 GPS. Somebody is lying about a 60 horse 4-Stroke running 45.

97 700LX w/ 115HP'ish and a 27pitch prop hits 55 very easy.  But i've never had the chance to take the boat on a long body of water.  I can only take the boat out here at a lake thats about a mile long of open throttle.  With that pitch prop i'm betting with another mile i'd be at 60.

I've got a 640 w/60 ELPTO and with a full tournement load I cruise at 39 GPS. The best I've seen on my boat is 42.5 GPS, with 1/4 tank of fuel and just me on board.
