When I was guiding, I had a couple closed face reels that I gave to clients that absolutely could not use either a spinner or baitcaster.  I discovered that they don't like really heavy line.

So I spooled one up with 30 pound braid and the other with 12 pound mono.  The one with braid ended up getting used the most.

For mono, Trilene XL is a nice soft castable line that would work.

I love braid, but I sure don't like it on a spincast reel.  Especially lower test line.  If you going to put it on a spincaster, I recommend 40lb or above.  However I do like Sufix Elite as it has less memory than most lines.
