Title: RocSters tournament 5/22
Post by: tennispro on May 22, 2010, 06:20:45 PM
Wow what a tuff day for some of us Not for Nate though.  Good fishing buddy ~c~  Nate took 1st and I was lucky enough to pull out a 3rd.  Thanks to nate for taking off and letting me catch my 5th fish..

With the very foggy morning I was not able to go were I wanted.  I ended up catching two keepers on a buzzbait with in 100 yards of the ramp.  Then over the next hour I had 10 blows and they were not even close to getting my bait.  The fish were a foot off at some times.  I pulled another keeper on a swimjig and started to work the other way.  That is were I saw Nate.  He worked right up behind were I was just at and caught two keepers.  I had the wrong bait.  So I finally start using a Vibra shock and the 3rd cast I got bit off ~rant

I went back to were I was and there were guys installing two docks right were I wanted to fish.  I worked around with nothing, then I ended up getting 2 more keepers to fill out my limit after Nate left his spot.

I started working back closer to the lake and I culled up about 2 ounces on a swimjig.  Then the day started getting really pricy.  I ended up loosing a vibra shock, spinnerbait, swimjig, and two hooks.  The pike were hungry >:(

I guess the fog was a good thing, I would have never fished that area.  It saved me about 8 gallons of gas lo

The fog is the only reason I won that tournament.  I never would have fished that spot normally, but I'm going to start now.  lo

Yeah it was nice of him LIP.  I could have filled a limit in the area that I started, but the guy that got 2nd was fishing it to.  He had a nice bag, but was missing a kicker.

The spot I started on had more grass clumps and I could have stayed on it all day and flipped up fish, but the wind was really hitting it.  It truned milky after the fog burned off.

Nate be glad you did not go into the lake.  Lots of slime weed every place and I only had one hit I even saw the fish, it was about 12".  I bet adam and scott got on them when they ran in near the end of our day ;D

They didn't spend much time in spring lake, but they managed to win the red cross tourney.  14.96lbs is pretty good considering they didn't launch till like 9.  Not saying they caught them in spring, but you never know.  I suck in spring lake in the summer when the water is low.
