I just went to Bass Pro yesterday and picked up a new rod and reel. I bought a Shimano Sahara and a 6'6" Ugly Stick Lite. I love my Ugly Sticks, I've not used another brand rod since I bought my first one. I also really like Shimanos so I'm excited to use my new Sahara. Anyone else used a Sahara? Any comments on them?
I own 2 Saharas and have not had a problem with them, despite my absolute incompetence during my first year fishing :D.

Yeah, you may have been incompetant, ;) :) but you learned reel fast! ~c~
Nice Reel Shimano makes some of the BEST reels in the world Ugly stick Rods are ok for livebait fishing & catfishing .
I dunno, I have caught many a bass in my time on both Ugly Sticks, and Cabella's Whuppin Sticks. And a few of em were with live shiners.
As a matter of fact now that I'm fishin salty all the time, almost all my rods are either Fiber Glass or a Fiber Glass composite.
Sounds to me like a pretty nice combo, although I am a little more partial to Penns and Mitchells, Schimano makes a great reel in its own rite.
The Saharas are very good reels....solid, dependable, relatively smooth with good drag....I think you'll really like it.
Thanks guys. Now I'm all itching to go fishing, and its still snowing here. :'( Now I'm just lifting for football ~bb and waiting for lacrosse season, because then it will be time to start.
And Pferox, I bought a Penn Slammer for my surf rod (which is also an Ugly Stick), a couple of years ago, and it still works great. I love the Penn's too, they are really smooth and cast great. I considered buying a Penn inshore reel to use for bass, I figured it would be tougher, but figured that since I never really put much wear on a reel it would just be a waste.
