Title: swim jig
Post by: boogie0907 on April 01, 2011, 07:31:42 PM
Any one used a paca chunk or a rage chunk for a trailer swimming a jig?

I used one this past weekend to test it out. I will leave it on my flipping and pitching jigs. When I would twitch my rod tip to give the jig its action on the retrieve a lot of times one of the claws would flip over the hook onto the side with the other claw or the hook would snag one of the claws thus killing your action and it a worthless cast. Nothing against paca trailers I love them for my jigs but for my swim jigs ill stick to single and double tail grubs...good luck

I have always like the Rage Chunk for jig fishing. I never really knew much about swimming a jig until I accidentally did it through some lily pads and I hooked up with a nice 4lber. I had made (what i thought was) a bad cast and i reeled it up pretty quick and I was hammered. So I put that to use and ended up coming up with some pretty good fish for the day.

As for the Paca, I havnt used them since i found the rage baits

Second for the Rage baits, but my favorite trialer on my KVD swim jigs is a Yum Money Minnow in the 3.5".  It looks great coming through the water.

I use the single tail Fat Albert grub.  I also glue it at the head with super glue gel.

Swim jig trailers are limitless every thing from a brush hog to a horny toad will work. These two you've mentioned are great as well :toot:

funny you bring up the brush hog...I think I read on the Zoom site where the brush hog was developed as a spinnerbait trailer?

I used to use the Paca chunks, but did not like how easily the craw part ripped off when swimming it.   After trying the Rage chunk have not used much else.

A white swim jig with either a baby or full size brush hog (depending on the depth your fishing and size of bait fish) in the Baby Bass color is an awesome combination. If you want just a little bit more contrast dip the tails of the brush hog in either chart or blue die  ~shade
