Although it hasn't been spoke of lately, nominations for the exec BOD positions need to be announced very soon. This next "on line meeting" scheduled for this weekend, would have been a great time to get names out there, so folks can start thinking and talking about who they would want in those positions! I believe we vote in January for the next BOD, but maybe that should start happening in November, so all new BOD members can get situated into their positions and be ready to hit the ground running by the start of the year.
If anyone was even thinking about running, now is the time to step up and let us members know. It would help get the Federation some choices and get us thinking about who would best help keep the Federation top and center.
With a good BOD that works together, understands what it takes to keep things active and make things happen, the Federation will be sailing along very quickly.
Since one of our own top BOD members has written a basically public statement about our own members, and I quote,
"My state team is so stupid they can't figure out how to sell their boat.", I would think it would be best to guess that we will have a couple of folks that are "obviously planning on stepping down from their position" and will leave openings for others that may be interested in leading the Federation with a better belief in it's members.
For those that don't know, the Federation BOD left the sale of the boat, that the team won at the Divisional, to the state team members. That has been, and is, all good. Then, after a few months, and getting more than a few people very interested, and the deadline to sale or lose the boat approaching within days, the team found out that our hands were tied on how we could sale the boat. Information that was in the hands of our Federation, but was not fully explained to the team until the very end. That info would have been helpful to have from the beginning to get the sale moving correctly, but the state team members pulled it together again and survived the lack of communication, which has plagued our Federation as of late. At this time, the boat is sold and the state team members got it figured out. Not so stupid after all, but very appreciative of the descriptive words of support from the top.
At least now, we as a Federation, know how to handle the sale for next years boat win! ~shade
BOD meeting went well. Nominations for all positions are set to be presented at the next meeting set for November.
