Does anyone run the Kipawa trolling motor prop. If So, any likes/dislikes? Thanks!
I ran one when I had a Motor Guide and loved it. I haven't needed one on my Minn Kota.
I've got one on my MotorGuide. It works great although it doesn't seem to cut through super heavy weeds very well. But that's all right, we don't have a lot of super heavy weeds on my area of Kentucky Lake anyway...

I run one on a Minnkota 101 lb. I have a gps on the front of the boat and on high the Kipawa is 1.8 mph faster than the stock minnkota prop. I does generate more thrust to get you off of stumps easier, however it doesn't do as well in the real thick stuff as the stock prop. But on big waters in the wind it's great and I think it saves your batteries power because of the added thrust. I swap them out depending on where and what the conditions are that I'm fishing.
I ran one on a Motorguide Tour 82 and for what ever reason there was a lot of vibration. Sold it and talked with Kel's in Florida, one of the top repair centers for Motorguide and MinKota, and was told not to run these props on Motorguides as they are not balanced well and can actually damamge the motor in time. They recommended the gray glass filled 3 bladed prop and I have to admit it works much better then the stock plastic one or the Kipawa (hydrilla hacker) in both thrust and in thick weeds.
I bought it to run on my motorguide 12-V 54-LB thrust to try and avoid...at least hold off...buying a 24-V trolling motor. I've been looking for a johnson/evenrude 24-V hand controlled motor for a while now and IF I can't find one by early next year, then I guess I'll do something else. The front of my Allison is limited on space so, the more compact the trolling motor the better. Figured the Kipawa for $40.00 would maybe get me by for now...We'll see this Sunday! Well with any luck...and if the weather stays like it is!!! I'll find out tomorrow if this new Kipawa prop. is what I'm hopping for. I'm Kissimmee bound in the morning! ;D ;D
Well I got to try the new Kipawa prop. yesterday and, It seems to work as advertised. Still need a 24V motor in my opinion but, on high, it does move the boat much better. No vibration, and seems to be a little better in the weads than the factory Motor Guide 3-blade prop. Also I charged the battery this morning, and it wasn't neer as drained as it would have been if I would have still been using the other prop. Over-All I guess it's worth the $40.00. MikeT.
