Title: The UBCS beat down
Post by: Jared LeBlue on June 04, 2012, 08:47:58 AM
Man was it that bad this year? I mean come on, no pictures posted, no 2012 child board, and TCTC still hasn't come up with a location for 2013.

Your the winners I figured it was on us to defend our honor from all the BS you'd post...

We're going to do to you like you did us.... Can you say Bistineau :shocking: Just got to play out the best storm season so you'll feel right at home.

You mean the one we've been letting you have lo We haven't decided yet. We know you guys don't like Bisteneau but we have to way several factors. First and foremost you drug us to the Calcasue again ~b~

Bisteneau wasn't bad. Two teams from TCTC are what won it for yall. I really expected Fogy to do better beings he lives on the lake but I guess the home lake curse got a hold of him. :shocking: Heck we felt right at home with the thunderstorms and tornadoes flying around. lo There are some other lakes we could have pick from when we chose the Calcasieu but they don't have cabins. Toledo just makes it easy with all the cabins they have but we knew yall were getting tired of getting spanked over there so we changed it up. Heck yall brought us to Grand Bayou last year. We can go there again if yall want another spanking. lo

Jared before you talk so much smack you should check the stats on Toledo? We won the first four and I recall at least two of those were on Toledo?

To be honest I don't care, it's about facilities. The fishing is a side bet anyway ~roflmao
Title: Re: The UBCS beat down
Post by: Jared LeBlue on June 04, 2012, 12:20:18 PM
Wrong again. Yall won the first 4 which was the Calcasieu, Grand Bayou, Toledo Bend, and Bisteneau. Yall only won one Toledo Bend tournament. We won three Toledo Bends, a Grand Bayou, and a Calcasieu. Which does make for an interesting point. Both clubs have won at every lake except for Bisteneau. Probably best for yall not to have it a Bisteneau. That's the only glory we haven't taken from yall Yet.  lo

Come on now, don't let your fear of a good lick'in get in the way.  Pick any Texas Lake.  I think that we could find a pretty good UB Texas team that could whip up on any of you LA swamp boys.

I would love to see it in Texas.  LOP, CedarCreek, Tyler.    Fork can be a bad choice in the spring for crowds, But I would sure fish it.

Bottom line  for me is.........  It cost alot of money to travel and fish these Shootouts and to me it needs to be on a good fishery with big stringer potential.  It usually cost us 750+ to fish a shootout and I can't justify it on a mediocre or unstable fishery.  Especially when I will have to dump a paying tourney over here to fish it.

I've been trying to get people from the board to set up a UBCS in different regions. If we were ever able to get several regional UBCS tournaments then we could have a UBCS championship. The layout and rules are already set up and I would help whoever wanted to get one started. 2013 will be our 10th year for the UBCS so it has potential to grow but it needs members from the board to take on setting one up in their region.

I would be down with that too, but the reasoning behind Fork being shot down so quick was everyone would have to buy a Texas fishing license. IMO we should take a vote on it.

I can assure you we'd be on Caddo if we could find the lodging for everyone. TCTC would love to introduce Lock Jaw to such a fantastic fishery and if we did it in the spring, every cast, pitch or flip has the potential of a double digit fish....

Texas State park on Caddo has 8 large cabins and Camping spaces.  Rates are very close to what we were paying at North toledo bend.

I have spoke with Shady Glade and they "appear" bigger than they are :'(

Don't know about the others as I didn't know they were available, Last time I checked into the state park they only had 4 cabins and only allowed 4 people per. That was a couple years ago.

I did a TV show with Bass Edge on Caddo Lake. They stayed in a cabin in uncertain that was pretty nice. It was right on the water and a full sized house.. Could sleep several. It was a privately owned cabin, but there were several in a row there all owned by different folks. If we could time it correctly and reserve cabins next to each other it could work out well. Looks like were going to Toledo this time though.

A few things to remember about lodging: before you decide on a lake make sure lodging is available at the time of year you want to fish that lake. Louisiana State Parks no longer allows you to book cabins a year in advance (I think the earliest you can book is three months in advance) so all La state parks are pretty much avaiable for next year. If you do decide on a lake with a La State Park you may want to figure the date that the cabin rentals will come available and post it so everyone know to jump on a cabin the second that date opens.

Another thing we need to look at is what lake will bring the most from both clubs. Last year we brought TCTC all the way down to Southwest La. and I believe it hurt their attendance. We fully expected yall to drag us up there this year and I'm not trying to change yall minds on that for this year but in the future we really need to look at a location that both teams will have a good turn out. While I know that going out of state and fishing some new water would be very exciting I think it will hurt the numbers from both clubs. As Shawn has stated above it is very costly to do that. I know for our orphan members it is very expensive to come fish with us and we will always welcome them to do so but I would really love to see some of our members in other states take the bull by the horns and start one in their area. I think it would be awesome to have 4 or 5 UBCS tournaments all in different regions. With that more people from UB could enjoy what we have been enjoying for 9 years now. Again we will always enjoy having a UB member not affailiated with one of our clubs or not from this region to come and fish with us but if we expanded this out then the cost for an orphan would go way down because they would have one closer to home.

I'm a member in two clubs.  I will pose the question to both clubs about this and see what kind of response I get.  I'd love to see this expanded to other area's also.

We need to get this posted in other area's of the forum so that more people would see it.  Right now it's on the UBCS board and not seen by everyone.  If it was in a more general area, we might get a better response.

They already set the dates for the UBCS. It will bethe first weekend in March. We always try to avoid the Oilmans but no matter what we do we hit one of them every time. Heck the last time we put it in February and still fell on the same weekend as them. They switch it around every year I guess to hit different hitches each year.

If TCTC graciously lets me join again, we will win a lot of things that weekend! 1) Kentucky Deluxe drank 2) Any type of washer board game played 3) Kentucky deluxe spilled 4) Steaks dropped on the ground (but still eaten) Oh yeah we are going for a fishing tourney. I will have to depend on my teammates to pick me up on that one. Making plans now to make it and hope to see everyone and more their again!
