Can anyone tell what the purpose of the centrifugal brake system? I'm not quite sure how it's supposed to work. I took the side panel off but I'm not sure about the 6 pins and how there used. The factor setting is 3 pins "in" and 3 pins "out". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its a brake, it slows the rotation of the spool down while casting so to lessen the chance of back lash.
That and your thumb will keep the spool from running faster than the line is going out of the reel.
So what's the knob on the side do? Pretty much the same thing?

spool tension. It tightens up the side to side play in the spool and does have a little braking effect.
Ok thanks guys
I just got one for GrandPa's day. That's Father's Day for old farts.
Going to try it out in the salt today, I'll let you know how it holds up.
I've had one for about 8 months that's is fished very hard and I've had no trouble out of it. Don't know how it will do in the salt but it does great in fresh water.

Yea I bought to of them and like them so far. Also bought me two pro qualifiers
I fished it today, it is a pretty sweet reel..
2 minor backlashes all day and they were because I spiked the bait in to the water.
Time will tell on the salty part.
