Title: MK Ultrex US2 cable damage
Post by: Bassinkorea on April 09, 2019, 11:59:19 PM
I somehow managed to damage the US2 cable that comes out of the head of my Ultrex. Is there a was to replace the cable, and if so, how easy or difficult would it be?

I believe it connects just inside the head Steve. Take the top cover off.

Tell us what happened so we don't do it.

It does connect inside the top part of the trolling motor head. It just screws into the US2 cable that runs inside the shaft. It is only 4 screws to remove the head cover. As long as the cable that runs down inside the shaft is not damaged it is easy.

I took the motor off of the mount to reposition the mount a little, and when I was putting the motor back onto the mount I somehow got the cable trapped between the motor and the mount   ~rant

Ouch! Self inflicted! I thought maybe there was a story involving a battle with a big fish or something.

Hadn't even thought about your location being an issue.  ::)   That's covered anyway.

Yep....totally self inflicted  :(

As you may remember, Minn Kota will not ship outside of the US and the Korean main  Minn Kota distributor doesn't even sell the Ultrex!!

It took a full month for the USPS to get my replacement cable delivered, but it finally made it and I got it installed yesterday. I still had the adaptor cable from my Fortrex, so it's all up and running. Just need to get the boat on the water for a proper test.
