Title: Foot control troll motor on bay boat?
Post by: Judge on August 04, 2019, 01:13:29 PM
Not sure if I've ever seen a foot control (cables) trolling motor on bay boat. Can anyone think of why. What are pros and cons?

quick google search showed Ranger, Nitro, Kenner all with foot control and skeeter a mix of both,,,, never had one Mike but would think its just mostly preference but would say that could be backed by larger waves/swells more often and the anglers liking both feet firmly planted.

Also I see them locked down with power pole type anchors for longer times rather then trolling cypress trees  ;D

I was always told that they didn't have foot controls because of corrosion. The cables would corrode and eventually break. Life sux after a long drive out just to have it break... But they are pretty easy to change and a person could carry spares. Most cables are only about $25 each side.
