While the rally is still fresh in everyone's mind. Time to take a moment and think about potential dates for the 2020 Rally. It seems like the two following Thursday thru Saturday dates might be a bit better time of the year for Guntersville. How about some feedback about what date (s) might be the best time to hold the rally.
OCTOBER 15 -17
OCTOBER 22-23
November 6-8
That or later!
Name a "Later"
November 6-8
I'm going to try to sweet talk the wife into letting me tag along next year. With that, for me, the first week of November works better for me.
Assuming we don't have snow or ice... I'm in.
I'm in for any November dates.
I could make early November
Sent from my SM-G977U using Tapatalk
You all pick it and we'll do our best to make it, lots to work around every time. But we had a blast and will make more "4 show!"
I am pretty sure I can make any of those dates work
One more thing to consider is that the October dates are savings time and the November date is standard time. Don't know if that matters to anyone, just bringing it to your attention.
nov. sounds good, and i would sure try to make it. always an excuse to visit the kids too assuming it is on the big g again.

With the responses from the attendees of the 2019 Rally, It looks like the endorsement for the 2020 Rally is for November 6 Through 8 That would make the arrival day of Thursday November 5 with Fishing on the 6,7,8 of November and departure Monday November 9.
If this is the correct time window please post your agreement here to approve the dates specified above.
I never knew we were so formal round here ~roflmao
Yep, looks good to me Bud.
I would love to make the next rally, I am going to try my best to make it.
Way too early to tell for me a year is very long time for me to commit to a date. But assuming nothing changes with my schedule and commitments during this time of year, I'm out.
Ok boys! Looks like our one road trip this year is going to the rally.
Yes I said we, the wife is coming down this time. But she will not be fishing mornings so I have a back seat open for someone. She will tag along in the afternoons but plenty of room on the front deck.
Is Nov 6-8 correct?
Hey Jim want to head for Chicamauga for a couple days ahead of this?

Depending on my work and cash flow situation, I would love to fish the G. I can't commit just yet, but I want to try and make it.
I'll need a back seat if there's any free.

Those that flew in last year - whats the nearest airport?
I think last year people made deals with people heading there and then flew into airports nearby. I plan to go, barring an emergency or catastrophe, so Nashville could be an option for some and I believe it was a 2 hour drive from there.

The Huntsville airport seems to be about an hour away and I'm seeing roundtrip flights for me around $350. I just wasn't sure if there was a more convenient airport around.
Nashville would probably be the easiest and is a big hub, so may find flights cheap. Then if you wanted a ride, I could take a few people. I will be taking my Highlander, so I will have room for poles, etc (not sure what you would want to fly with!).
I will haul all of Fishballers tackle for him. It needs to be used in chic some. ;)

It's usually a few miles from the town of guntersville proper.

It's tough for me to say for sure, yet, with work and school if I would be able to make it.
what's rough cost for the trip? travel aside obviously.
Anyone have a seat open at the moment?
I don't remember exactly but I believe it was under $150 for lodging and food. Alcohol or special drinks, etc will be extra and usually on you or someone may bring extra
I believe it was around $200 for the three days. The biggest expense is the travel.
As far as back seats there will be room somewhere. We will have to wait for more commitments to figure out all the partnerships.

Wow, that's awesome. If I'm planning a track day while down there the travel cost is "assumed" to drive down with the trailer. But $200 is about what I end up paying for a hotel near the track for just 1 night! So to be down there for 3 days and be able to fish is awesome. I'll see what I can figure out.

I should be able to go again this year, at least for now. I will have to check on Jonboy, but I know he has a 6 week shutdown that includes October, so we will have to see about him. If he cannot go I will have a backseat...

The deer will always be there. Besides, you could always skunk. The season is long enough you can still have time to hunt. However, you are getting a once in a lifetime opportunity to share some quality time with some great people. Not everyone can make it every year, and they may not be there every year. Tomorrow is never guaranteed!

Have to go empty my Guntersville Rally Jar this coming week. It is now full with plenty of time to add more to it. I think I am gonna re name the jar the Guntersville Rally Guide Fund. If I get to attend this year I am thinking I might just hire a guide again like I did a few years ago. Sure makes the fishing trip easy and productive at the same time. All I need is for the Mrs. health to remain stable so she would be ok here by herself. Looking good at this time but that too can change. It is just a bit farther than I want to tow the boat. For about the same cost can hire a guide for a couple days and not have to worry about finding fish or other navigation issues both on land and on the water. Might even have to meet up with Princeton Man and Zippy at Chick on the way there. Worth thinking about.

With Covid going on, is this still a go? Im scheduled off and planning on going, Pretty sure Brad is too.
I think everything is up in the air at this point, but I don't see why not, unless the place we rent the cabins from has to shut down. I know if we had chosen the dates in Oct, I may not be able to as they are pushing our fall sports back until the end of Oct.
I'm still planing to go. I will toss in the disclaimer that things will hinge on Linda's mom's health since we are her 24/7 healthcare.
Once again I will not attend the Guntersville Rally. The Mrs and I will instead spend our money for a special trip to Vero Trophy Lakes in the spring. Sure hope this COVID stuff is under control to all for all these events to happen. As I recall your plans were to have the Rally the first weekend of November if I remember correctly. Also I think Princeton Man and Zippy are planning at Trip to Chic on the way to the rally.
I plan to be there but it looks like no Chic this time. Just not going to miss the election to fish chic this year.

I need to check my schedule, since they drastically changed my fall semester, but I should still be able to make it work.
Me and the Stratos will be there.

Yup, that's the one.
did you talk to Paul and crew at GTO?
glad y'all got it covered.
2 more guests will be with us, but they will be staying at my house. Speaking of, i think we need a bonfire night at the house. Maybe some caddyjoe kitchen creations?

I spoke to two different guys (don't remember names) there at Waterfront. They had one cabin available there across from the launch. All the others there were already filled.
Sorry yall, we have decided to back out of the rally this year. Maybe next year.

We'll settle up before we leave. I reserved for 10 but it looks like we're down to 6 1/2 now.

I hope so. Nutt is a heck of a guy. He would fit in well.
Guys, I have some more bad news to add. Jonboy and I will not be able to make it that weekend after all. i apologize, but I found out last night that I won't be able to come and Jonboy found out earlier this week that his schedule has changed and he is not off that weekend.
I am sorry about this.
Brad
Well I'm not going to be able to make it either. With buying this land, I'm going to have a lot on my plate when I get home this time.
I really wanted to make this. Was hoping to get to learn from you guys.
Captsteve
Any day fishing, is a good day.
Well it looks like three in the cabin and three and joe's place. Three boaters and three riders. We will miss the rest of ya'll, but will have lots of fun anyways.
How big is the cabin? Should we downsize?
Gonna make for an expensive stay. Cabin cost divided by 3 instead of divided by 8 or 10

It's a 3BR 2BA and it was the only one Lakeland had available. I'm not sure what her cancellation fee is, but if someone can find something better for less, I'm all ears . Lakeland's cabins have always been clean and secure.
A week away. Everyone still good? What do you think the bass will be biting on this time of year? The usual swim baits, cranks, spinnerbaits, etc. Would punching still be effective? I may start getting gear together this weekend.

yes Bud -- there is a cold snap right before (this weekend) -- still some green mats -- hopefully should turn them into grilled cheese and you know what happens then -- Rice Krispies
Been eating my heart out on this one. Just not possible to attend this year but it sure looks like I am going to miss some really good conditions on those mats. As it turns out the Mrs. is doing a lot better and I probably could have got away for a while but that too can change in the blink of an eye. I am looking forward to some pictures from the rally.
Best of luck to all of you attending this year's rally. Safe travels. Stickem hard.
Good luck guys!
And plenty of pictures please for those of us who have to live vicariously through you.

Let's hope so brother! One fish for 8 hours of work makes for a long day.
G turned back into miss stingy!!
a dang fake fall came in November. It was lined up so perfectly with low temps in the 30's. Instead we are back to scattered shad. Caught some today on a jerkbait on main lake points. So, looks like they moved back out.
Cojab has been catching them, and we've been having a giant laugh all day in the boat. Other than that, see above.

Zippy's on his way home, we replaced one hub and repacked bearings in another. Praying he makes it home safely. Two of his tires were pretty badly worn, he had a good spare, but that still left him with one tire still pretty worn.
Made it home safely with no more issues. Thanks Jim!

Awesome!
Well when I left yesterday I found a power cord running from the back of the garage out the driveway where Zippy just drove off with his batteries still plugged in! ~roflmao. Maybe that was a bad omen!
I didn't catch anything. Had a couple nibbles and bites but it was still fun being out on the boat learning from the guys. Also saw a couple bald eagles flying around. Something I don't see everyday.
Glad everyone got back ok, even if some repairs were needed.
Until next year...
Princeton Man, How did your truck do on the trip? As I recall it is not as big as your last truck.

Oh, that Hemi wants to do 80mph uphill! I was extremely pleased with the power and handling. Still, I miss my 2500HD Sierra.. I couldn't even tell the boat was behind the Sierra. That Sierra was a lot heavier.. With all the gravel in the lot, we had to use 4wd backing in at night and it seemed to get stuck in 4lock once. Of course I never backed up after disengaging, so maybe that's all it was. I hate knobs and buttons. Running gear components should have real shift levers, not knobs.
More troublesome is the high pitched whizzing or whining sound it developed under the hood. I'm not sure if it's the alternator, power steering, or idler pulley, but it doesn't seem to affect performance.

most likely idler
Went to tims ford yesterday and Nickajack today. Definitely returning to both.
Hey all, long time no talk!
Just wanted to jump on here and thank Caddyjoe for a great time fishing Guntersville this year. We had a great time and even though we didn't wear them out we caught a few nice fish, and I saw a part of the country I have never seen before including Guntersville, Tim's Ford, and Nickajack. What a great trip!!!
Joe, thanks much, and you know my boat and home are always open for you and your family if you ever come out west.
If you all ever get a chance to make this rally, I would highly recommend it.
And Mr. Lee Smith, good talking to you too! 😂😂😂
