Title: Pascagoula River
Post by: fishingram24 on March 06, 2021, 02:31:34 PM
Got out yesterday with my long time fishing partner, John, for some Spring time fishing. Caught 20+ chunky bass on the day with 3.88 large mouth that John caught topping the list. We caught them on several different baits, white spinnerbait, Zoom UV worms and chatterbaits and all were shallow. Tide was low and rose hard all day aided by a strong SE winds 10-15 mph, air temps 45 early 70 late and mostly cloudy, water temps 58-60 and visibility of about 1' in most areas. Going to Millers Ferry Al. next week for 3 days and hoping to  hook a few good fish but regardless it will be fun.

Is there good Bass Fishing up there at Millers Ferry?
I'll be getting in from offshore next weekend and I'm hoping the Pascagoula is lower enough to fish in Ware Lake or Parish Lake. If no, thanks for the good report on the Creek. I am gussing you caught those in the creek or marsh area?

Most of them in the lower marsh but did fish the creek late in the day when the water got into the grass. John and I have been going to Millers Ferry since the early 80's usually twice a year and like any other place sometimes you catch 'em and sometimes you don't but usually do pretty well. Normally we catch our limits and often have a big fish or 2 in mix plus it has some 4-5 pound spotted bass. Great crappie fishing also and its just about time for them to be shallow as well. My favorite spot to fish.

Thanks for the info about both. Since I no longer line in the Cleave' and now live in Bama, it
should be about an 1.5 to 2 hour hour drive pulling my boat up there. Will defiantly try it out. Do you know if there are any cabin's to rent in the area or is it just a Camp (Tent) camp ground?
Yeah, my brother T.P normally gives me a fishing report on the Creek and Pascagoula river, but I haven't heard from him lately. I'll be on my houseboat in Sumrall (As the local riverrat's call it) this coming weekend.
Good luck at Miller's Ferry! Let me know what you caught...

Thanks Again...

Bayou, you have multiple options around Millers Ferry. 2 hotels in Camden, Roland Cooper State Park has camping and cabin rentals mid lake and a Corp of Engineers campground at the dam. We stay at the Southern Inn now but camped at Roland Cooper for many years in our younger days. Also a privately owned campground with cabins in Camden. Lots of crappie fishing going on last week.
