Baileyjs, you should try eagle lk, I beleive its in young america, its somewhat close to you and their are big ones in it.gl

So the family wants to go camping next weekend and we're going to Baylor park which is on Eagle lake.....any suggestions for the lake??

earldogg

Ive actually never been there, but ive heard there are giants in it, if I remember right its a frogging lake. Let us know how it went.

Went to the swamp Saturday,  I haven't been there in 7 -8 weeks. The main lake has already flipped! Had an ok day, caught about 15 in 6 hrs with 2 19"ers. Had a weird day though, couldn't get on a pattern of any kind, had to junk fish all day, caught them shallow, mid depth, and deep. Saw lots of shad and caught about 8 big pike 28"-35". It will be on fire in 3-4 weeks, can't wait!

Give me a call when you want to go out there.

I went fishing alone Saturday Morning on DeMontreville, Caught a few little fish on the drop shot but nothing to brag about. I think I've lost my mojo.

that lk is tough, it's got giants but it's gets beat up all year by very good sticks, you got to do something wierd to catch them there. Cant keep anything there so the fish are very educated.

Anybody going somewhere cool this weekend? I might go to pokegama-cross on sunday, if that dont work out than probably somewhere local, lake z maybe, or the dirty d.

CraigP83

I don't know. I'm supposed to help Tim move into his new house tomorrow, then date night with Chrisy. Sunday looks to be nasty windy w/ potentially severe T-Storms so I'll probably stay in. Monday I'd like to get out somewhere. I had actually thought about Pokegama/Cross myself.

Went to the River Wednesday and had a little scare about 4 miles from the launch, something must have wrapped up in my prop and my Water temp alarm went off. Let is cool down for 20 minutes and it seemed to be alright. Caught another big Drum, a bunch of dink Smallies and 1 keeper Largemouth.

Ended up going to Tonka yesterday, what a waste of time, it was a grind. I swear that place is my nemesis, been there 3 times this year and it sucked-or I did! Can't even catch them dock fishing. Beginning to think it's way overrated, suppose to be in top 10 in the country, it wouldn't make my top 10 in the county it resides in. Frustrating!

we usually fish one of the smaller bays and do pretty well.  Last time out my brother in law pulled a 5.1 lb'r out of the reeds.  The only thing we seem to have much luck catching them on there is on weightless texas rigged worms

Went to the swamp saturday, fishing was better than I thought it would be with a cold front, blue bird sky's, and no wind. There were 3 of us and we got about 30 in 7 hrs, 2-19", 3-18", and about 12 17"ers were our best fish. Caught all of them very shallow in the shade of brush, tree's, or docks. Couldn't go deep lk had some algae bloom and sentiment from decaying vegetation. Couple more weeks and it will be $. Going to trophy this weekend, planning on a getting a 6-8lber.

CraigP83

Very nice, Went to Pool 2 of the Mississippi for 3 hours on Saturday. The Current had picked up and it pinned the smallies into predictable spots. Ended up getting a bunch, but nothing of size. Caught a pretty big White Bass though...

One more day of work, than I'm trophy lk bound. Been planning this trip since November,  this lk has monsters, was hoping to hit it at the right time, the weeds way down but the rice stays. I broke the lk record 2 years ago with a 6 1/2lber, planning on rebreaking that record this weekend.  Not sure if it's going to happen with this big cold front. I just hope it dont rain!

CraigP83

Good Luck, Take a picture of any lunkers. I'll be landlocked this weekend, Next weekend I plan on getting at least one full day of fishing in.

I'm going to try get the canoe out early morning on saturday.  Can I assume with the colder weather they're going to be pretty lethargic? Are plastics the best way to go or will they still go after frogs/jigs?  I won't have a depth finder or anything but are weedlines still going to be good or will the weather most likely force them deeper?
thanks for the advise....still trying to learn tendencies  :embarassed:

Personally I love throwing Buzzbaits this time of year, Infact I think they get better as the temps continue to drop. I'd also make sure to have a Lipless crank and Jig tied on too.

CraigP83

Played hooky and went to Minnetonka today. Fishing was tough but I did get a good one.

Snapped this cool photo as I released it.

Trophy didnt go as well as planned, massive cold front, water temp was 55° thats a 20°swing!  Very tough fishing on day one, didnt even get a limit, and thats fishing for 11 hrs. Day two started bad also but my cousin figured out how to catch them, and we lit it up the last 2 hrs of the day, ended up with about a 15lb sack. The highlight of the weekend however was I saw the biggest bass ive ever seen, it jumped out of the water about 15 yards from us, had to be about 8lbs! I will get a 7-8lber out of this water, its just a matter of time.

CraigP83

Got this big old gator on Minnetonka today

Went to my 2 honey holes, lake z and the swamp, got beat up. Fishing was very tough, didn't even get my limit. Only fished for 3-4 hrs both days, I swear im in some kind of funk, this time of the year is usually the best for me. Worse part is I have a tournament on tonka this weekend and that place has never been good to me. Part of it is I think I've just been a little spoiled, just used to catching a limit of 3lb+at these places.

CraigP83

If it makes you feel better Adam only caught one bass on Tonka and I didn't catch one at all  ~roflmao

Have any of you ever used a Sebile Magic Swimmer?  I was lucky enough to win one of the drawings for a gift card to Beat the Big Box boys and want to try something I haven't used before.  Any thoughts on these or anything else you've liked from there that have worked well up here?
thanks!

CraigP83

I've played with the Sebile Soft Swimmers a bit. Used it in some of the same places I would use a spinnerbait. It's a little more subtle, similar to a swim jig.

You been out lately baileyjs?

baileyjs

I haven't been out nearly as much as I'd like!  I got the canoe out a few weekends ago and got a couple decent bass on a chatterbait, but that's about it.  Unfortunately I'm at my brother-in-law's mercy as to when he takes his boat out and it hasn't been very often this year.  I wouldn't mind doing some more shore fishing but don't have much luck finding decent places.
