Okay guys so I have placed my first order with Mr. Lee Smith for a rod.. problem is what reel to put on it. The reel will be used for flipping hence the high speed needed. I narrowed it down to 5 and here is specs and why I like them.

Lews BB1 Pro PS1XHZ
6.5oz / 35 inches per turn / 14lbs drag
Fishing Lews for years now and haven't had one let me down. This reel is "woops"y and the carbon fiber matches my new rod. Also highest drag and inches per turn.. plus it is light.

Shimano Scorpion 70XG
6.8oz / 32.3 inches per turn / 10lbs drag
I like the small red accents and it is known to be reliable.

Daiwa SV103XS
7.8oz / 33.6 inches per turn / 13.2lbs drag
I would like to try a SV spool, the fact I can skip it with backlash is a +++ for me

Daiwa Tatula CT Type-R TACT-R100XS
7.2oz / 33.9 inches per turn / 13.2lbs drag
The red is awesome, also like it is the lightest Daiwa on my list

Daiwa Fuego 100XS
7.8oz / 33.9 inches per turn / 13.2lbs drag
I love the price and that I could upgrade some bearings and swap to red accents.

So give a vote and comment why or why not?

Of the 5 listed, the SV103XS. I think it's the most refined, heavy duty of the bunch.

SV 103 by far. I have used all the rest except the lews and the 103 beat them all.

Lots of different reels, lots of different price points. If money is not an option, I go SV103, and you can get the purple changed to black and red components. That reel is gonna be the most robust out of the bunch, especially if you are gonna be flipping with baits 1oz and over, and using heavy braid. Now, if you are going to be using 1/2oz to 1oz, you could get away with the SC70, especially if you are going to be using braid in the 40# range. If you list more of the specs of what you are exactly gonna use the rig for, might help to steer you in a more pinpoint direction. As far as the CT, Fuego, and BB1...If you are gonna do this, do it right.

All I have to say is I still can't believe this thread was started by WEST and there is a LSCR in the title and high end reels other than a LEWS are up for discussion...  :o :o

Seriously speaking though, I'm out of this discussion because I have yet to handle any of the reels mentioned for a considerable amount of time. But I will say, if your going all in on the rod, don't skimp on the reel. You have plenty of time to still save some more $$ and make a very informed decision. You are going to receive a lot of useful information on this thread. Enjoy the process, its very exciting to say the least. Good luck on your choice bud.  ~c~

Matt I will be flipping 1/2 Oz weight's 85% of the time probably on 50# or 65# braid. On the rare occasion I need it I will toss a 1.5 or 2 Oz but that is rare.  Spool capacity has no bearing since I will mainly be flipping or pitching. Might skip a dock or 5500 with it.

If I am on a lake with no flipping I might toss a jig or spinnerbait with it. Heck might even burn a uv lol.

Ignore price and give what you prefer. That is why I didn't list prices. I would purchase any of these. I might even buy the SV and get a carbon fiber handle and red accents!! Crazy right?

My top one so far is the Lews.. it has everything I want. Including carbon fiber handle already. But the SV is right behind it even if it is heavy and I'll have to buy parts lol

3rd is the Scorpion.. it looks nice.

Last 2 not so sure about.

With that said, you gonna need the SV103. My vote is in.

I have both the SV105HS and the BB1. There is no comparison between them in terms of the quality of the build and castability. The SV103 is just a slightly heavier version of the 105 so I would say 103 hands down.

You know what's going to happen once you go Daiwa. It's going to ruin your bank account. Just ask Caddy.  lo

Yep.. I have yet to meet someone who stays with only one high end outfit after a purchase. Usually the lineup is changed within 2 yrs. Lol!!

Are you able to order it with custom colors or did you order parts you are going to install?
TTK has spoken.
