In the last couple months I have had several requests for help with the Tapatalk app, whether it be posting pictures to the site, adding a signature, posting Videos or how to navigate easier.
I am by no means an expert but thought I'd try and throw a post together to try and help with some of the more common issues. As more questions arise we can add them and have a place to keep it all easily accessible for everyone.
I'll start by saying I have 4 portable devices I use to access the site.
1) Apple iPhone 6s
2) RCA tablet
(Android Based OS)
3) Kindle Fire Tablet
(Also Android based but slightly different than the RCA Tablet)
4) ) Apple IPad Mini.
3 of the 4 have a different appearance and forum options available so it's important when asking for help we know what operating system you are using. The control panels all look different but operate in a similar fashion. I'll try to cover each step on each device in this post.

Posting pictures -
Probably the most common question I see on the site is how to post pictures. Usually there's an issue with resizing the photo to meet the site requirements. With the Tapatalk App this is NOT an issue, if you have the photo on your device already or your device has a camera you are all set for pretty much instantaneous photo uploads.

First the iPhone;
First thing you have to do, if you have a picture of that personal best Largemouth on your device from last year that you want to share in your post just click on the Plus symbol here-

Then click the photo icon here-

Which opens your camera roll (photo library) choose the photo you want to upload

And it is automatically resized and uploaded to your post.
Click on the icon in the top right corner-

and that's it !
Likewise if you want to snap a picture of that new lure you just received you can also do that by clicking the camera icon here -

The app automatically sizes the picture and posts it in your post after the point of your cursor so it makes it easy to upload pictures in the order you are talking about them in your post .

Android Based ;

Uploading Photos
First step in uploading photos is to click on the plus symbol here

If you don't have a plus symbol or quick reply bar then click here on the 3 dots in the upper right corner

Which will open up a menu and then you can click on reply here

Then just click on the camera icon here

Once you have selected a photo or taken a photo with your camera then just click submit in the upper right corner or the Arrowhead symbol.
You can also upload photos or files using the paperclip icon but the 250kb restriction applies and the app will NOT resize for you if you use this method

It is much easier with a quick reply bar so if you want to change it I will cover settings soon also or you can message me

Navigating on Android Based Devices;

When you click on Ultimate Bass you will be on the UB home page that will look like the photo below. There will be 5 icons , I have lettered these A-E . I will also explain F

A) Which looks like a Crooked Lightening Bolt-If selected shows you the posts that are Trending on the site .
B) Which looks like a Clock Symbol-If selected shows you the Timeline of posts on the site starting with the newest at the top . This will be limited to maybe 50 or so posts I will double check on this and update later.
C) Which looks like a Angled Wi-Fi symbol-If selected shows only Unread posts . Which sometimes will go blank and show you nothing , like you have either read every post or you accidentally clicked on mark all as read (which happens lol) if blank then switch to timeline view which will always show the latest posts whether you have read them already or not . I use this view more than anything for finding the latest posts the fastest way.
D) Which is a Star-If selected shows only your Subscribed to Threads or Boards
E) Which is a @ symbol -If selected shows only threads you have participated in
F) Is a written description of the symbol you have selected above to remind you which posts you are viewing.
The drawback as with any app is there have been times that there is a new update released and once you are used to using it one way they can change things and it can really be a trying process to figure it all out again. Hopefully we can all learn from this post.

Adding live links to your posts :

Adding live links is pretty straight forward , please keep in mind the site posting rules about live links.

iPhone-
Find the URL of the page you want to share highlight the entire text and copy it to your phones clipboard once that's done your ready to share it

First click on the plus symbol here

If editing a post click on the 3 dots here

Then click on BBC code

which will open this menu

Click on URL And the code will automatically be placed in your post

Your URL should be copied in your clipboard already (see below for instructions on how to save URL's to your clipboard easily while on UB) , place your cursor between the two brackets ....

This should be automatically done when you click on the URL link and it returns you to your post but sometimes the cursor might be in the wrong place. Place your thumb (or finger) on the screen and you can move your blinking cursor around and it magnifies your view so you can see exactly where your cursor is and if it's between the two URL brackets (the middle)

then click on the paste button that pops up after you lift your finger

and hit reply (save if your editing a post)

Copying the URL of a post on Ultimate Bass to share on another  site or in another post if your trying to help someone find something fast :
Click on the 3 dots upper right corner

Click on share

Click on copy (as you can see there are other options also for sharing to Facebook etc )

The URL of the post you are in is now copied to your devices clipboard and can be shared anywhere on the web or in another post as outlined above by pasting the URL between the brackets code.
Hint you can also manually type the code if you can remember it

There are certain settings which will make navigation a little easier so here are a few common ones.

Thanks Rick for a great tip on how to remove  this sometimes annoying feature.
Remember to recheck often after any updates since Tapatalk sporadically turns this back on automatically with updates  :)

Let me add something. I had an issue and I believe others have run into this aswell. Two updates ago I had to change the way I uploaded pics using the app for android. Previously I had always used the paperclip/photo Icon to upload pics, then after the update I would get the classic "file too large" message. Another user tipped me off to use the camera icon, then choose upload from gallery. Problem solved. So..if your getting that message that should be one of your first troubleshooting steps.

Thanks wrench for the post. The app has always been great and I applaud the UB team for supporting the app for us mobile users. It is a testement to the concern that Mike, laurie, and all the moderaters have for the rest of us that just squat here with barely any rent paid (we just help with groceries once per year lol). I have been involved with other sites that just flat out regect tapatalk for what ever reason, even know we have mentioned how useful it is for us more tech advanced folks. My guess is there is a downfall for the site having it but im not sure what.

BigWrench, thanks for the post. I am glad we have a sticky to asks specific questions on.

I think you got it pretty nailed down now. That was a great effort with very detailed pics. I am positive it will help atleast a few people get squared away

I finally got around to playing with TapaTalk some more during a rain event the other day. I've had TapaTalk Pro installed on my Samsung Galaxy for at least a couple years. Was never all that impressed with it. It worked but seemed to have lots of issues and when I tightened down permissions and switched anti-virus/security apps, it only got worse. I never gave it a lot time because I just assumed it was the quality of the app and lots of folks seemed to have issues with it.

I installed TapaTalk from the play store, not the TapaTalk Pro, just the plain TapaTalk. Now I'm seeing what everyone else must be seeing. It's performing much better, doesn't crash, and uploading pics works! -Jim

I've never spent much time learning about Tapatalk. You may need to create a TT account.

This is what I see when I create or reply to a post.
