Finally in the market for a new bass boat (in the "research phase" but in the next 6 months I'll be ready). Looking at new boats, namely the Legend V20. Not against buying older models, just not very interested in buying used. Are these guys still making boats or does anyone know a dealer that may have a few new boats left in stock?

Mike Cork

Yes the V20 is the only one they are making as far as I know. Don't quote me on that as it's only hearsay.

Center, Tx has a dealer called Home Town Marine and they can fix you up (recommended).

I'm not sure if they are still selling them in Minden up here in the north. Can't remember the name of the store anyway?

Legend bass boats is no longer in business building boats they are now owned by White River Marine Group. You have not been able to order a new boat since around April I believe.  The factory is now used to build Triton Bass Boats. Warranties must still be honored so that's not an issue and will be handled by White River Marine Group. Legend specific parts will be stocked for at least three years to fulfill warranty obligations.

It's a shame that they are now out of business essentially, best bass boats in the world, in my opinion. Glad I was to buy one this year, so I can "Ride with a Legend", even if I can never get another.

In a situation like this...should I avoid buying a new legend?

Mike Cork

I wouldn't be afraid of it. The boat it's self is bulletproof. It's an awesome ride and I am like everyone else that owns one, very glad I have one. So no I would not be afraid to buy one in the slightest.

Now the motor and accessories are not warrantied by Legend anyway so all that is on those companies.

I bought mine used in July, wasn't even two years old. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Fast, dry, stable, the fit and finish are amazing. By far the best bass boat I have ever rode in let alone owned. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again. In fact if you want one, pull the trigger now. There aren't many new ones left, and won't be anymore coming.

Yeah I've emailed and called about the one in center, TX. No response or answer yet. I've battled it out in a few aluminum boats, and this will be my first glass boat. How do you guys feel in the merc proxs VS yammy sho?

Mike Cork

I'm a Merc guy all the way. Love the response from my Pro XS. I've never been in a Legend with a hammer on it. I do know a couple skeeter guys that were upset when they had to go to Yamaha and lose the Pro XS, for what ever that is worth..

Of course, I hear mixed opinions on both motors. I've heard more bad things about the proxs (definitely a good bit about SHO too) , but there's way more mercs on the water. And from what I've gathered, it's 90%+ operator error. I'm actually looking at Phoenix and skeeter if the legend doesn't pan out. There's still a couple months before I purchase, so my research continues... Thanks for the help!

I have a 225 Pro-XS on my Alpha 199, and love it. Had Josh @ Steve's Custom Props do his magic on a 25p 3 blade Fury and it flat hauls the mail. I agree with your assessment of there being more mercs so it seems like they have an issue occasionally. But I also think nobody ever goes on a forum to tell everybody how great it is, more to complain from the few that don't do any maintenance. I do know they had an issue with powerheads years back. But the new ones, especially the 4 strokes seem to be almost bullet proof. I get about 72 mph out of mine and wouldn't trade it for any other motor.
